so you a hater of jones, given that jones as yet superceeds kovalev at LHW. your hate allows u to reverse the facts. ok, you should have just said that. i'm a huge ko4clev fan but I aint going to let it cloud my thought.
YDKSAB You're either a troll or know nothing about boxing in the period. Im thinking the former. Probably an alt of someone who recently got banned. Another for the ignore list
I didn't realise that, that's great. I know Kathy Duva took a chance on him. He really impressed me. I'll be honest, I didn't want Hopkins to win. I didn't want him to get hurt, but I didn't want him to win. I thought there may have been a good chance of Sergey just looking for the knockout, and burning himself out in the process, leaving Hopkins to take advantage. I couldn't believe how disciplined he was. He was composed and stuck to a game plan. A great fight, and all credit to Hopkins. No fouls, no excuses, and a great post fight interview. He deserves an enormous amount of respect. Don't worry about the other thread, just bump it when you've got time. :good
You've got to stop writing this nonsense. Tell us how he tried to make the fight, apart from just repeating his 50/50 stance?
Roy was in the prime of his life at 168. How is it a mismatch? Roy was so fast of hand and foot, Kov would have had a hard time landing flush. Plus, he also had the power to gain Kov's respect. He gained Ruiz's respect. I'm not saying that Ruiz was better than Kov, but he was a 226 pound HW. Roy also knocked out two guys at LHW in Hill and Griffin, with single shots, when they weighed 180 plus on fight night. Kov had absolutely no respect for Bernard's power on Saturday. But he would had to have respected Roy's power. Speed and power can off set a lot of things and make a guy frustrated and hesitant. In no way would it have been a mismatch in Kov's favour.
Roy became shot immediately after his supposedly amazing win at Heavy. Bull****. Tarver had his number.
I'm pleased for Duva too. She seems like a good person as well and she really believes in Sergey too. I thought B-Hop was going to cheat like never before in this one. I was really concerned that he was going to try and slice Sergey's eyes up with butts and tire him out with constant holding. I think Sergey's strength and power discouraged him from wanting to get in close to do that though (Richardson was begging him to take it to the inside all night but he didn't seem too keen), and whilst he did try to come in with his head sometimes, Sergey was quick to spot it and move out of harm's way. But B-Hop wasn't as bad as I thought he was going to be in that regard though and he was very classy in his post-fight interview, which was nice to see. Yes, Kovalev's discipline and patience was impressive, as was his boxing ability and the way he was able to hold his nerve fighting on the big stage for the first time. :good
