Why not?? Going life and death with Anthony Hanshaw, an accomplished LHW, as well as Tito Trinidad, who was also another great LHW... But we really need to give credit to the Prince Badi Ajamu fight, it is really what set up the other 2 fights... It is easy to see why Roy was a top 10 LHW going into the Calzaghe fight.
No, I'm asking you, because I know you're a big fan. I'm not bothered that Joe beat Roy, only that he contradicted himself, and was dishonest in the media. Glen Johnson outboxed and destroyed Roy, more than four years before Joe got to him. Joe cashed in the chips that's all. It has no relevance.
As well as after losing to Calzaghe looking very impressive in stopping Sheika who went on to take world rated LHW Diaconu the distance in a tough fight and Lacy where Jones speed was noted
It bugs you Loudon that Jones recouped, sorted the weight issues out that he had and was still beaten by Calzaghe
Roy had lost three times going into the fight. The only things that bug me, is Joe saying that he didn't want to fight Roy because he was shot and it was pointless, then pretending to the media that he took the fight, because he thought that Roy was back to his best. Pathetic. Joe the fighter, was a great fighter. But as a person, he has the ego the size of a planet, and he's contradicted himself numerous times all throughout his career. Are you going to answer my question? I saw Kov last Saturday, and I envisaged Joe causing him some trouble.
The similarities with all of those fighters is that none of them were fighting and winning at an elite level.. Jones has lost everytime he has stepped up to the elite level since beating Tarver. Though I will say, I was impressed with the way Roy turned back the clock against Lacy.. He threw some great lightning fast combinations.
Jones doesn't have the Chin or Heart to beat Kovalev. Jones was reluctant to fight any power punchers in his career the Jones fans are kidding themselves thinking he would even take the fight.
I know Calzaghe's relentlessness would give Kovalev hell, but could Joe take Kov's best shots for the full 12 without slowing?
You can think whatever of Roy's chin that you want.. But I don't understand why you think he has no heart.. He showed a huge ammount of heart in both Tarver I and Calzaghe fights.
ah Calzaghe, - indeed he could be thought of as the welsh version of roy jones, that legend with superlative skills, speed, accuracy and power. Just, without the skills, accuracy and power. P.S.and a good deal slower too.
Seems Calzaghe makes so many posters insecure. We are here to discuss Kovalev and Jones, yet the Calzaghe insecurity comes shining through
