You do realise you saying the word "fact" at the end of a sentence, doesnt actually make it a fact right?
roy was untouchable in his prime. kovalev is a good guy who beat an good old man (in his probably last fight ever) that roy beat 20 years ago. is to slow for prime Roy, pretty sure he wouldn't touch juniors face with his gloves. roy was superman in his prime
Roy gets hauled out on a stretcher post Ruiz, but doesn't lose a round before that making Kovalev look like a B-level fighter. Can't see Roy stopping him, but maybe on cuts.
He got "busted" in the Hall fight.(In a fight where Halls Test levels were multiples of RJJ's) He had some of his most impressive fights AFTER that fight. He didnt look "average" until he was in his mid 30s after going up to HW and dropping back down. He was completely dominant for 15 years, and didnt have to beat one near 50 year old guy to do it.
Imperial, Bernard Hopkins tried to get it on with Roy Jones Jr in 2002. That's when Jones Jr still was unbeaten. So what you write about Hopkins aint true. He went after Jones Jr when he was at his best but was turned down.
mismatch, jones gets killed. I don't think some of you are factoring in a prime jones was really a 160 lber, 168 he was even above his prime weight
I can see this from Roy Jones Jrs perspective. Fact remains: fighting Hopkins would have been a lot more dangerous than John Ruiz, and a lot more interesting from a boxing point of view. Ruiz was a tough guy, Hopkins one of the best boxers of all time and he had developed since his previous loss to Jones Jr. Jones Jr wasn't the kind of boxer who went after the best just for the sake of it. Few are, to be fair.
jones was a proven unifier at lhw with a string of defences in which he looked unbeatable. sergey has yet to defend unified. jones is greater, without even factoring in the jump to HW. Although I suspect Sergey could do a number of Wlad crap chin without a doubt.
jones never stepped foot near a ring with a talent like kov, I don't give a #$% is jones won some fights at lhw, his PRIME was 160
Bernard Hopkins is a genious, and sometimes genious are wired a bit different from the rest of us. Jones Jr realised how good Hopkins were at that point of his career, and went for something showy albeit empty instead. He targeted the weakest champ available at HW instead of fighting an ATG at his peak. Are you saying Ruiz is a better fighter than Hopkins? Because 50/50 is a fair shake. Here is the interview with Hopkins and Jones Jr from 2002. It's soooo obvious Jones Jr plays Hopkins ego like a piano. He only want to **** him off, and guess why: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvFdo1gG7bY See what I wrote about genious above. In 2010 Hopkins and Jones Jr had both been reduced to Calzaghe cannon fodder. Both were probably happy to be able to make any money at all by fighting each other.
