We all know that RJJ in his prime beat fighters with ease. But what would you say was his toughest fight then?

Obviously the first Griffin fight was the toughest during his prime.

Yeah, I'd say the Griffin fight.

He totally schooled Toney. Hopkins probably gave prime RJJ a better fight.

Lou Del Valle deserves a mention for knocking prime RJJ down.

That's true.. I was watching the griffin fight live at a friend's house and my friend wasn't a Jones believer yet. I told him before the fight that he was going to murder montell. As the fight went on I became more and more skeptical until Jones finally got himself DQ'd. Embarrassing evening to say the least.

Not quite sure if he did or not. He was slow about getting on the band wagon with new rising stars, although Jones had been around a while at that point. I believe it was on that same card or sometime close to that when we watched David Reid make his debut against a fighter named Calderon or something. Calderon was a 10-0 prospect and Reid was in his first fight. My friend wanted to see Reid score a devastating knockout and when he took a decision he was disappointed. I'm like give the guy a break, he's debuting against a 10-0 fighter !!!!

People mention Montell, because he frustrated Roy. Which of course is very true. But he was well on his way to stopping him before his moment of madness.

Eric Harding also gave Roy a very frustrating night.

But for me, Roy's toughest fight was against Antonio Tarver. He was completely exhausted after nine rounds and he really had to dig out the win.

Funny you saying this because these type of situations always happened to me too! Told my friend about R i d d i c k Bowe and sure enough the first fight he watched was the Tubbs fight. I was raving about Shane Mosley and telling a group of friends he's gonna be the guy to take DeLaHoya's 0, then sat silently as he beat yet struggled against Philip Holiday. And the first time I watched the '85 Bears was on Monday Night against Dan Marino's Dolphins...

Roy toyed with Griffin. Roy laid in the corner ate Griffins soft body shots. Griffin landed one solid overhand right then when he felt like actually fighting he did.

I suppose it depends how you look at it.

In my opinion, he was on the verge of stopping him before he lost his cool/made a mistake.

I think the Harding fight was tougher overall.
