Where would they figure in the shake up at 168, I'd have Woodhall and Reid both beating Skoglund, and the Turkish melt. Callum Smith v Reid would be fun. I always liked Woodhalls style.. Just a bit light on pop to keep a genuine class operator at bay. Reid beats Degale for me and Groves 50-50, how does Woodhall go with them two?
I think Reid beats all the current super middles his a really underrated fighter the calzaghe fight was close and could have went either way and the ottke fight was shocking imo
No homo but imagine a fight between Robin Reid and Jamie Cox. They'd be as well broadcasting that on one of the adult channels because seeing these two studs slugging it out in the ring would be better than porn for the ladies out there. They could put that on PPV to boot.
Preferred Richie at middle before the shoulder injury, he was very good then. Not quite big or strong enough at super. Reid was solid, good counter puncher and good right hand. But a shot Malinga and battle worn Wharton outboxed him for extended periods, and Joe broke his hand on Reid's head in the 3rd or 4th and was completely dominating to that point. Reid was good though. Eubank Jr suffocates Reid, but has some issues with Richie's jab and reach for a while. Groves and Reid is a battle of long jab (Groves) v counter right (Reid) in terms of the timing and chess. Who knows? DeGale outruns them, frustrates them both with his running and stance, Reid esp with his flat feet. Smith would be busted by Rob's short firm counters and outboxed by Woodhall in ring centre.
Mega GHAYYY!!!! As said before Reid would probably beat them all in this day and age...unlucky against Calzaghe imo ,there is an excellent show on BoxNation where Reid and a few experts watch the fight again and assess it...
Reid would dominate the SMW division if he was fighting today. Very good boxer, with excellent skills. Could fight when he had too. In the early to late 80s/90s boxers thought they were models, and had to look good at every opportunity. Robin came along on the backfoot of Gary Stretch, and carried the image across, and went to great lengths to look good. Always making sure his hair was in the right place, getting it cut before a fight and so on so on. But as a fighter he realised too late what he could have done in his career, he could have been great. Such a shame really because on his day he was one hell of a fighter...
Reid v Calzaghe is an underrated fight as Reid is fighter. I remember rooting for Reid as my wife(GF at time)who is Welsh was rooting for Calzaghe. Had Reid winning 115-113 iicrr.
