Put Rocky into the 1970's, there's no past their prime light heavyweights like Charles and Moore nor a 37 year old Walcott to go life and death with to win the title. There's men like Ali ,Frazier , Norton, Shavers and George Foreman and yes Ron Lyle. Lyle got off the canvas to beat Shavers Rocky's power would not bother him like it did the 175 pounders of his era.
I don’t think Shavers was an elite ATG and is painfully overrated here too. I’ve been very consistent, this place gravitates to big punchers like Lyle and Shavers whose other skills are suspect.
Oh ! Shaver's skills are more than suspect, they are weak. But will Shavers and Lyle have to go looking for Marciano? He's a small man on a train track against brutal punchers.
Quarry all the way. It would resemble the Quarry-Shavers fight, just that it would last 20 seconds. No way is that overrated fraud Marciano beating a prime Quarry, the lone thought is laughable.
Marciano throws 90 punches in round 15 to close it out strong in a fight that has both of them busted up and bloodied.
Rocky busts him up for a stoppage between rounds 6-10. Quarry takes a beating and the ref steps in and waves it off.
Look, some Marciano fans give Marciano a chance vs Vitaly Klitschko and Lennox Lewis, this just indicate the level of their Iq. Sorry, if I offend anybody, pals, please, do feel free to hit back at me.
Rocky would be a live small punching bag for Lyle and Shavers. Figure him to be brutally stopped in no more than two rounds. There is a world in difference in power, size, functional strength and, yes, skills. Marciano went life and death with a 33 year old totally shot former lightheavyweight, and someone thinks Marciano would have a chance against a monster like Lyle, who almost stopped a prime Foreman?? Rocky is not an ATG, he is the most overrated fighter ever, maybe the most overrated sportsman ever overall.
Quarry always seemed to thrive against big punchers who would come right at him. This content is protected
And Mac Foster was historically elite in what fashion? He was a journeyman who IMO never really deserved the high ratings he possessed. Big punchers who come right at you are not inherently interchangeable.
