Yeah I'd find it hard to disagree with that. Roy was an athletic specimen, a freak.

Well, you'd have a lot on your side if you argued for Roy.

I'd say pretty easily. I don't think anyone comes close for having the same combination of handspeed, power punch speed and reflexes

This definitely isn't true, see Benitez-Leonard/Curry/Moore

I would say Ali because of his size 6'3" 210-220 lbs , but Jones would be my 2nd choice.

p4p, quite possibly he was, Leonard is a good shout but Roy could make a great opponent look like an amateur like maybe no one else. He had a better than good chin until he got old/moved up in weight.

When he came up I thought he had the talent to be the best ever. That didn't pan out, but his sheer boxing talent was extreme

It would have been great though, if Roy would have had longevity on his side, He was gifted.

I’ve never seen anything like RJJ. Not even close, really.

So many things to point to, but think about a guy with all that speed and those reflexes and, yeah, by the way he takes out Virgil Hill with a single body shot.

    Yes.
1st fighter since Ray Robinson to cleanly throw 3 left hooks in a row, only to top it with 4. That is not suggested as a boxer, it is suicidal, but what better way to prove his reflexes was off the chain?

1st fighter in Compubox/Punchstats to go a round without being hit. That takes coordination and timing out of this world, especially considering he didn't really use textbook defense. He used reflexes.

Not since Meldrick Taylor, was there a fighter who could throw a 10-15 piece combo. Before him was Ray Leonard IMO who was the best at it, but he usually was flatfooted to which is how he generated decent power to stop guys. Roy could throw those combos flatfooted or on the move.

Roy's power at one point allowed him the ability to do the famous KO from behind the back shot, how many fighters have done that? Again it isn't something to teach as boxing 101 or advanced techniques. No trainer would teach a fighter to do that. Roy did it, because he was just that gifted!

Roy's power at one point allowed him the ability to break the rib of Hill. That same power put Badi Ajamu in the hospital where his kidneys damn near stopped functioning. He was almost a Gman in the making.

This dude had so much stamina he could play a pickup game of basketball, then go defend his title, who else has scheduled sporting activities before a championship fight?

Roy as far as I know is close to the only fighter to shutout the P4P best. While P4P have lost before, I can't think of one who lost as clear as JT did to RJJ. Even though we older fans know JT failed to take the weight off right...not RJJ's fault that he liked staying in shape. And regardless, how does a P4P get shutout and blame it ALL on the weight loss? RJJ made it look easy.

Roy's problem is that he just didnt want to take on all the fights he could have, so it leaves some wondering what if..
