Can Beterbiev's size and strength overcome Roy's speed?

Jones would be too fast unless he lay on the ropes with his gloves up like he had a habit of doing, the only chance Beterbiev would have would be a come from behind KO, like Jackson v Herol Graham.

No, Beterbiev's guard can be pretty loose at times and he allows for some easily-apparent countering opportunities between his shots. This doesn't work to his detriment against most fighters because his strengths and the threat of his power, but against Jones, he'd be sharp-shooted, badly out-sped, and out-maneuvered. Jones would likely take a very clear and wide decision.

Anything post-Tarver I, though, Jones loses.

Beterbiev vs Gvozdyk all over again except Roy was quicker than Gvozdyk, Beterbiev missed far too many punches that night.

No. Roy Jones jr. in his prime was simply other worldly. He’d light up Beterbiev from angles Beterbiev didn’t know even existed and I am a huge Beterbiev fan.

Don’t let anyone tell you Prime Roy couldn’t take a punch either. He didn’t have a great chin but it didn’t become glass until he did it to himself by fighting again way too soon after the Tarver Knock out.

There is a great clip somewhere where Emmanuel Steward explains when you get knocked out and don’t give your body the proper recovery time, and then get knocked out again, you lose some punch resistance permanently. I’ll see if I can’t find it...

Tarver knocked him out May 15th 2004 and September 25th 2004 he fought Glen Johnson who also knocked him out. Four months and ten days later, not including training camp. After Tarver he should have taken at least six to eight months off.

    The rest is history.

Is Beterbiev going to be 34 in the hypothetical fight against Jones or is he going to be 30?

RJJ can’t be touched in his SMW natural habitat. Good enough to beat Beterbiev as well at light heavy but gutted he carried on and moved up too much. Light heavy was perhaps a natural progression growing older but absolute max for him. I know he won a heavyweight title as well before some smart arse xmentions it but he is categorically not a heavyweight

Beterbiev can be 20 , or 15 years old and still get spanked

I rate RJJ high, but Beterbiev is a bad styles match up for Jones. Cuz RJJ doesn't like pressure. Beterbiev is a lot stronger than RJJ.

Roy doesn't like smart technical pressure. Beterbiev isn't a face-first plodder but he's definitely hittable and if Callum Johnson can make him back up and even drop him then Roy is gonna have a field day.
