    Banana-Rama,

AB’s style and pressure would have been a huge concern. He looks cool and immensely strong. Both physically and mentally. But Roy’s unorthodox style would also have been a huge concern to AB.

Roy didn’t avoid DM. It’s one of the biggest myths in boxing. DM and Universum would never meet with Roy’s advisors and HBO in order to try and make a fight. No meeting ever took place. I’ve even read links where DM’s promoter, Klaus Peter Kohl purposely ignored their calls. You can’t make a fight without the relevant people sitting down to discuss it. They were all talk. DM’s resume speaks volumes. He was more than content to milk his WBO belt in Germany for easy money against mostly low level fighters.

Of course. I was just highlighting how a fast handed former LW had trouble hitting Roy. That’s how elusive Roy was.

Yes, Roy probably didn’t face anyone as dangerous at LHW. But then who has Artur ever fought who even resembles Roy? He’s only had 17 fights. And I’m not interested in his amateur career. He’d have had a huge shock fighting somebody so fast and unorthodox.

At 37(in 25 days) is declining of course...but he is not over the hill or nowhere finish or even beatable like SOG said in his tweet lol what i want to say is what about Hopkin then? at 37 was he considered declining or something? and he was in a lots more wars than Beterbiev(only Gvozdyk for me).Roy was unbeleivable fast(almost inhuman) in his times. But as Serge show in the Parienza fight(natural 160lbs fighter) who can corner and hit with less power than AB oviously then it's easy to say AB could have done the same and im 100% sure he would have finish him of course.BTW this fight (Parienza)was in 95...so 4 years before he was consider prime and win tree belt at lhw.For the blind fans of Roy if you continue to argue(and you have the right) then would you insinuate that he was unbeatable by all ATG in the past? I don't say either AB his too,he would surely get beat by someone sooner or later but not in this era for me,i just don't see it maybe by Joe Smith by a lucky punch, because it's still boxing and everything can happen.

    Sure.

    Could Artur have landed one?

So you say Artur can even land one punch in the whole fight? Pathetic!

If he’d have lost every round, it’d have been very doubtful that he’d have caught Roy with a body shot.

    It’s nearly 2022.

There’s still no time machines available.

Yep, sadly this would not even be my first choice if I had a time machine. I’d pick the winning lottery numbers and pay a visit to the sports book. Maybe kill Hitler when he was a baby and have lunch with my deceased father who I miss dearly.

These types of threads are always excuses to argue and I don’t enjoy them as much as most people. Truth is, fights among great fighters are difficult to call. I thought Hearns was going to beat Leonard in their first fight and second. I thought Leonard was going to beat Duran in their first fight and that Hagler was going to beat Leonard in their fight. I was certain Tyson was going to KO Douglas and AJ was going to beat fat Andy in their first fight, and on and on. The unknown is what makes boxing great. Some fights are easy to call but when two tough guys in their prime meet in the ring, you really never know.

That's why i don't like this kind of threads...but i just defend my boxer because im a fan of his like Roy fan fans defend him.Beacuse AB got only one big fight(Gvozdyk) and get descriminated or diminish or say he's overated(how?) versus many atg or even current and more popular boxers like Zurdo(beat no one),Benevidez(actually former champion x2) and you know the others one...

He’s had 17 pro fights and you rate him as the 5th best LHW of all time?

Well maybe not in history of course we will never know...but a record do not represent the quality of a boxer btw.

Serge hasn’t got a grudge. He’s just a master of making humorous posts and stirring up the pot in order to provoke a great response.

We’ve been doing this for years.

All of his posts are great.

They’re not meant to be taken literally.

    Where the hell’s Bailey?

    Has anybody seen him?

A 37 year old version of Roy was fighting Prince Badi Ajamu.

He wouldn’t have had a chance of beating Artur.

This was 2 after the losses to Tarver and Johnson.

    Who has amnesia?

You’d have bet your house on AB having beating Glen Johnson.

Yet you’d also have put your house on a pre-Ruiz version of Roy having beaten Johnson too.

Paz hardly landed anything on Roy.

Artur is much slower than what Paz was.

It would have been extremely difficult for Artur to have trapped Roy on the ropes and hit him with a body shot.
