Manny Steward on Felix Trinidad in the mid 90s:

"Trinidad would have given Leonard and Hearns tough fights"

Manny Steward, years later, on Oscar De La Hoya-Felix Trinidad:

"If Oscar had been aggressive, he would have knocked Trinidad out in 2 rounds"

    Translation:

    Manny: Hire me!

McClellan would be a very dangerous opponent for even a prime Jones, but G-Man's defense was too leaky to outlast Roy over 12 rounds. Jones also hit hard enough that he'd command McClellan's respect, and he either fights cautiously to take a decision or gets a late stoppage.

I'm assuming this fight takes place at 168. If it's at 160, I give G-Man a better shot.

I watched the Mclellan vs Benn fight again the other day and wow was Benn helped out by the ref. Every time Mclellan had Benn hurt the damn ref kept stepping in for no reason giving Benn time to recover. He also kept letting Benn hit behind the head with rabbit punches and then I seen it all. Benn pulled Mclellan down and they hit heads. While Mclellan on the floor in pain the ref tells him to get up and finish the fight which in turn.........do I have to say it.

Kronk Trainer picking the Kronk fighter? WOW, I'm surprised :blood

this is the same man that thought Trinidad would give hearns/hagler a tough time, and thought Pavlik would not last 3 rounds with Taylor

one of the best matchups never to happen - i've thought about this fight so many times.

i'm thinking, a triliogy with jones winning a decision after getting floored - rematch with jones getting ko'd in 8 rounds and jones outboxing gerald in the rubbermatch.

I believe that was Frank Liles, who also defeated Roy in the ams but lost 2 out of their 3 meetings in the end.

Don't know if GMan ever faced Roy a second time.

I just looked it up. He didn't. Jones lost a decision 3-2 to McClellan and that was the end of it. McClellan couldn't spar for a good while afterwards.

I had read he was out for a month with a badly swollen jaw. Too bad we didn't see Roy in with guys like McClellan and Liles in the pros too often...and I really mean that. Those fights would have been phenomenal.

last person he KO'd was richard hall i think off the top of my head.
Clinton Woods was a corner stoppage dont kno if you wanna count that. And I think the alleged scadals started be4 the RIchard Hall fight. But yet he still damn near killed him. And how come this was not in big headlines. I mean at that time RJ was king of the world. And this was never even on sports center or anything. I never heard any sport analyst talk about this. Not even Larry Merchant i ehad bring this allegation up. Not saying that it cant b true, b/c it probably could b. But I never heard anything about this outside of people makin allegations

He is on the Balco list and was definitely a client. After the Balco scandal, his body has certainly changed as well. However, it also coincides with him coming down in weight which can severly hurt your body according to experts. So it's hard to know.

Jones was never indicted as far as I know. He did test positive against Hall in his first sample, and negative in his second if I remember correctly. Hall tested positive too in that fight, for even higher levels.

Look it up. Boxing is dead unless your like us....die hard fans. No one cares about boxing. They didnt even show the results of Pavlik-Taylor fight on the ticker. They just wanted Bonds thats all. Im just saying its funny how Balco comes out and Roy desinigates right b4 our eyes.
