Thats exactly how I feel. But I think it could be a one punch KO because Joe applies lots of pressure, and he isnt gonna be able to defend at his best when he's throwing. I think eventually, one of these hooks that Jones lands puts Calzaghe away.

 Oh yeaf, I forgot about that one. Brannons strategy was to smother Jones, and it backfired on him.

He would have a chance but Calzaghe is never getting KOd by one shot and would be far less easy to catch against an opponent he would have total respect for.
Not only that but Jones would not be trying to throw bombs, he would just pot shot and throw leather when Calzaghe was in close and pressuring him.

Sure Jones could stop him, but peak Calzaghe threw with more intent himself, if you watch his early fights he throws far more with the knuckle, turns the wrist into the shots and as time went by and his injuries mounted so he flurried more and more with light, slapping shots.

Yes RJJ is shot, but Calzaghe is no way near his prime either, which seems to be something everyone conveniently forgets on these boards.
The Calzaghe of the Lacy fight was markedly faster than the one that fought Kessler and that version faster than the one who was in the ring against Hopkins and Jones.

Peak Calzaghe would hit harder and give Jones more to think about, but peak Jones was insanely good and beats anyone and everyone IMO.

I am not saying he couldn't or wouldn't have stopped Calzaghe, just that in this hypothetical match up I envisage him staying as clear of trouble as possible and winning a UD.

Not the fighters themselves. I mean the startegies they had versus Jones, re-watch the fight and you'll se what I mean. Brannon went in and windmilled against him but Jones weatherd it and KO'd him.

Jones possibly by UD. But we've seen Cal take some damn good shots. I rilly don't think Roy would KO him.

Good post. But I think its possible to KO him with one shot if that shot lands pefectly, at the right time. But there will be some moments in the fight where Jones would look to hurt Calzaghe(take a risk) after he lands a punch to snap his head back. Will he be successful, I dont know.

Jones via late stoppage. No disrespect to Joe, but a prime Jones was just something else...a freak.

Calzaghe wins an easy decision, don't forget Calzaghe is currently 36 years old, the Calzaghe you saw fight Jones is past his best, i admit not as far past his best as Jones but still passed his best !, Calzaghe has never been a one punch merchant {always been a combination puncher} Calzaghe's punching power has declined a lot over the years !
Americans have overestimated the ability of their fighters compared to the rest of the world in recent times ,so taking everything into consideration i take Calzaghe to win by 3 or 4 rounds.

Are you saying Jones wouldnt be able to win every round?
Dont forget Jones has plenty of fights where he hasnt lost a round.

I'm Sorry but even in his prime Jones was never a huge puncher.
