Roy was the most dominant fighter I've ever seen when he was at 168.

This poll is bull**** - to say Calzaghe would have 0 chance is just plain nonsense.

Ps. I look forward to november very much.

    Im done here, cheers.

    Your kidding, right?

The ONLY reason why I'd agree with you there is because of the old boxing cliche's - "anything can happen" "it only takes one punch" etc etc...

But to attempt to argue that Calzaghe would have ANY chance whatsoever to actually beat a prime Roy Jones barring the aforementioned one punch (or some other bull **** like breaking a bone), is the real nonsense.

BTW, Jones by late round stoppage after wearing him down.

I'd be impressed if Calzaghe lasted the distance for a 119-109ish type loss.

How long have you followed boxing ? Wake up.

As you said, anything can happen.
I myself would pick Jones by decision but you badly underrate Calzaghe if you expect another re-run of the RJJ/Toney fight or some other kind of easy win for Jones.

At 168 pounds Roy was a monster. Absolutely and completely. He beats Joe.

Jones KO win, think he would have enough to get Joe in trouble then finish him off

joe by brutal knock the **** out.

roy witnessed the supernatural and wanted nothing of it choosing to fight police officers and men from yorkshire instead.

The last option is the correct answer, since that's what actually happened.

Having said that, we should wait until after their fight actually happens before we make a judgment on this. If either fighter wins this fight decisively (such as by an early KO), then he should be given the benefit of the doubt against any "version" of the other. It's unfair and frankly unobjective to say something like, "Roy would've beaten Calzaghe in their primes, and I'm going to stand by my prediction no matter what the facts of their actual fight are."

How is a one punch KO "bull****"??

And why should that result be "barred" as a credible win? Do you think Roy's win over Virgil Hill was just some flukey "bull****"?

Other than flush KDs, Calzaghe showed a tremendous chin, better than Roy in his overall career. Also Roy has never ever fought a fighter so close to his stunning handspeed. Calzaghe's stamina is superb enough to bring out the best of the best Roy for 12 hard rounds and make it something like 116-112 for the great Jones...

People seem a bit dumb here thinking that the Kessler or even the Lacy fight had anything to do with Joe's prime. Yes, those were Calzaghe's best wins, but that was also the age when Roy was knocked out so not facing Kesslers in his late 20s doesn't mean he wasn't at his best at the late 20s. At the time he possessed much more power (before he started to hurt his hands regularly) and wasn't just slapping.

I say as a great Roy fan and a fan of Joe in the last few years (from the Mitchell fight): 90% that this ends in a UD and also something like 70-30 for a Roy Jones Jr. victory. Roy never knocked out the greatest of them, Hopkins and Toney. Also a lot of his KOs came due the huge difference in speed like the Richard Hall victory. Reggie Johnson or Telesco, who possessed a great chin were able to go for 12, despite being much slower.

Roy himself admitted that Calzaghe is by far the fastest and busiest fighter he's ever fought. And of course styles make fights, the flashy style of both fighters are just the worst for them... therefore I think a prime Roy vs. prime Joe would've been a very interesting, very dramatic fight. The last thing has anything to do with the thread is the late Joe going down in the Hopkins fight. Unfair to compare the current Joe as the prime Joe to the Roy of the 2nd Griffin fight. What is double duckage? The last time I cheked Joe always wanted Roy but it was too much of a risk for Jones therefore he fought the Telescos.

Jones 116-112 in his most competitive fight in his prime and the only 2-sided brawl he would've ever been in.
