Roy's back has a love affair with the canvas, one grazing left or right from Kovalev and Roy's going for a long snooze on it again. Wouldn't even take a flush shot to turn out his lights. Even a flush Kovalev jab would blow all the bulbs in one go and trip the switch in the fuse box. :yep

Kovalev can't make 160, because Roy Jones prime was at 154/160

    [YT]wvMRnzvvhQY[/YT]

At 175 he was already three divisions deep fighting bigger guys he had to pick his spots & opponents.

At 154 Roy Jones was invincible & it continued at 160

Match Kovalev with prime Bob Foster, Michael Moorer & Michael Spinks

    You have it backwards.

Kovalev would be toast if he made a mistake...like stepping in the ring with a prime RJJ.:deal

Roy at 175 was doing what Mayweather did at 147

    Roy prime was 154-160

At 175 he loses more often without a matchmaking filter

There's why I said, who knows.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kov beat him, it wouldn't be a shock given how poor he has been at imposing his size on men moving up.

The RJJ that KO'd Virgil Hill ruins Kovalev.

Kov doesn't have the headmovenent/defense to avoid those lightning KO punches coming at him from both sides.

'Prime' Jones is the biggest myth in Boxing not named 'Prime' Tyson.

Did the fights against Grant, Hall, Frazier, and Kelly convice you he would beat Kovalev? Was it the Pazienza fight (one of the biggest disgraces this sport has ever seen) or the Del Valle fight where Jones was put on his ass?

Roy's two biggest fights with Hopkins and Toney were stinkers. Very little action was reluctant to engage. Jones clearly avoided savage punchers and when looking at his pathetic Glass Jaw we all know why. His career was filled with a lot of "what ifs" and his minions on here are always telling us "Jones would....." not what he actually did.

These men would force him into one, they have the skills, IQ, and physical ability. That's why I said Jones wouldn't have the power to beat these guys.

I think you should check out Marshall vs Mills. Marshall was the same size of Jones at his prime and very similar in ability. Near in mind, this is the best footage we have of him and he is already past prime.

Jones I think would be in the mix, maybe could win a few in a series, but he comes up short of these titans. But most do, we are talking the elite of the elite.

I think Jones would struggle with the old schedules as well. Light Heavies regularly mixed with real heavies, and fought monthly with injuries.

I don't see any savage punchers on Kovalev's resume.

    Hell

    I don't see ONE.

If RJJ is a myth then Kovalev is a fable.

    Neither did Jones.

The body snatcher was a washed up smaller man. Maybe if Jones fought DM we would know more.

Jones avoided savage punchers. Kovalev has a guy that can punch pretty dang good running from him like the plague. See the difference there? I am not saying Jones could not fight but when you really break his career down into a micro level he maneuvered himself through divisions very carefully.

Ruiz hadn't had a KO in almost 5 years leading up to that fight. Even Byrd had a KO in that time frame :rofl

Did you watch the fight? It was awful. There were several rounds where Jones either threw or landed in the single digits. Are we trying to turn John Ruiz into a savage puncher now?

Ruiz was a feather fisted, flat footed, slow sloth and that is why Jones picked him and not one of the other 2 title holders at the time and it is also why he dropped the belt and never defended it. He was only willing to fight Ruiz who just happened to be the worst trinket beltholder. Do you see a pattern here? Ruiz was not THE champion. Just like when Jones was at Light Heavyweight he would not fight THE champion he fought for vacant trinket belts.
