Keep it real.Im not really a fan of Jones or JC but prime for prime Jones beats down JC rather easily.I don't think anyone except Toney lasted the distance with Roy at Super Middle.Meanwhile JC couldn't put away a shopworn Charles Brewer.

    No one?

Let me guess, Calzaghe puts on few pounds and beats Holyfiled at Cruiser. (I've actually seen someone post that on here before)

Prime Calzaghe almost lost the Robin Reid and looked like **** when laboring his way to boring decisions against far from World class fighters like Thornberry and Starie.

Prime Jones would box Calzgahe's head off and stop him.

Nobody at SMW or LHW that I can think of. I think CW may have been too far for Calzaghe with his frame and build, but at SMW he was the greatest and he still casts a shadow over SMW and LHW years on, he was so dominant.
Calzaghe may even punch harder than Holyfield

    go to 27 seconds

Jones by something like 117-111. Calzaghe wouldn't be disgraced but it'd be a comfortable win for Roy.

The revisionism that goes on with Calzaghe and his career is verging on insanity at times. When Calzaghe fans talk about how he'd apparently have always beaten Jones, from what I've seen they usually just reel off empty, meaningless clichés such as "the southpaw stance, the stamina, it'd be too much for Jones" etc. They seldom actually have any real evidence drawn from fights of either man to back it up.

The troubles Jones had in his prime only really came against savvy, awkward fighters who could feint him out a bit and who could keep it tight defensively. Hopkins, Griffin and even an old McCallum did ok against him. Calzaghe was nothing like those guys and was always pretty easy to hit. He had a great engine but wasn't an inside fighter. Jones was lightning fast on his feet and Calzaghe wouldn't be able to keep him in punching range for long enough to make his output much of a factor, for me. Besides, it's not as if Jones had bad stamina in his youth anyway.

Calzaghe beating Kessler by about 8 rounds to 4 was seen as arguably his greatest night. For a peak Jones, losing four rounds to a guy like Kessler would have been seen as a disappointment! Calzaghe was an excellent fighter, but a level or two below a prime Jones.

Roy had a chance at fighting Collins, Eubank, Benn, and Liles, but he didn't.

With wins over those guys AND Toney, he'd be the undisputed GOAT at SMW. Hell, he'd be considered the GOAT at that weight with wins over Collins and/or Liles.

I don't think a win over Collins would have made much of a difference.

A win over Liles certainly would have though.

But according to Roy, HBO, and Liles's manager - Jack O'Halloran, Liles walked away from his biggest pay day.

Also, Eubank was content to defend the WBO on Sky and ITV.

Fights aren't always easy to make.
