    Its laughable to be honest.

You see so many Americans on here saying PRIME ROY JONES WOULD KNOCK JOE OUT IN 3 ROUNDS

But yet look how many bums lasted the distance with Roy ? Calzaghe would arguably be his best opponent (some would say Hopkins and im inclined to agree).

So why/how would Roy KO 3 a Prime Joe Calzaghe when Roy couldnt score KO's over people like Fermin Cherino, Lou Del Valle, David Telesco, Julio Cesar Gonzalez etc etc......?

A prime Roy Jones is a fantastic fighter, and I fully agree that a he would beat Calzaghe had he been in his prime, but someone with Calzaghe's ring intelligence and adaptability doesnt get destroyed by anyone.

I see the fight similar in scoring to Roy's matchup with Hopkins, maybe even a little closer.

What happens in this matchup when Calzaghe adapts ?

The only thing we should be arguing about in this matchup is the people who stopped the fight from happening.

Joe himself knew exactly what a prime Roy would do to him.

I think he would floor Calzaghe and pot shot Calzaghe

But it is realistic to say Calzaghe is capable of giving Jones a tough test and take him the distance

too quick in all departments, foot speed, hand speed, reflex speed - head movement, lateral movement
he would out class him eventualy in a deacent over 12 rounds
and could land that dangerousr right hand alot more
so not be too suprised with a phew knockdowns

Thing is prime Roy was good enough to keep up the pace he started from round 1 until round 12.

Don't tell me you haven't see Roy at 160-168. He was a monster seriously. Nobody has ever shown me that kind of handspeed before or since. Not even Calzaghe.

If this old shopworn Roy knocked Calzaghe down in the first, prime Roy would have ended the fight soon after. That I am 100% sure of.

This is just like the euro clowns who say Tyson would have been beaten by Lewis at any time, even though Tyson was completely shot when they fought. Contrast the two versions and you'll see what I mean.

You seem to forget Calzaghe is quite old himself now too. Calzaghe can't lose. It's destiny :yep

No version of Jones stops Calzaghe and vice versa, always points. Roy would be the clear favourite and quite rightly so.

Just out of intrest have you seen most of the fights you have mentioned, in most of them jones was taking the ****, messing around, not particuarly trying to hard and not looking for the KO. He would not fight like that against calzaghe, joe's to good and roy would know that and not **** about

Calzaghe would be a dificult fight for roy, because of his skills, fast hands, insane workrate and good footwork i don't see roy messing about and staying defensive. Roy i think would fight aggresively like he use to at 160 and 168 and he did against the 2 best fighters he fought in his prime at 175, in griffin 2 and hill

Jones when he was in that offensive mode was close to unstoppable, unfortunatly he did not do it much at 175, he never needed to and became a safety 1st fighter a lot of the time, he would not be like that against joe i fell, he would use his amazing offense, speed, power, accuracy, combinations and shots coming from the weirdest of angles, and in my opinion he would win the fight by a fairly clear but competitve UD or late stoppage

It wouldn't be a destruction but roy would beat him well, he would not really have embarresed calzaghe either and showboated like he use to, joe was to dangerous so i think roy would have fought at his most dangerous best

Here is a video to give you some idea of how roy could attack in his prime, not saying this would be the same thing roy would do to calzaghe but gives you an idea of what an offensive roy could do

I think that Joe dominated Roy so much that if it were to have happened years ago you would have to give Joe a 50/50 chance because of his adaptability.....I think that he showed it would have been a lot more competative than most people think...Would he have won before i thought no but now im not so sure because his performance now puts those questions into play, much Like Lennox did with Tyson......

  14. Yet a green Hopkins lasted the distance with Jones? Come on Scar I know you're better than that:-(
