Ruben Castillo fought them 90 days apart at 126 and has said many times that Arguello was far superior and would have knocked Sanchez out.

130 is pure speculation cause we never got to see Sal at the weight.

    Why not just do 126?

I think Arguello's firepower would have ultimately done the hittable Sanchez in... late in a war for the ages.

Ruben actually fought Arguello at 130.

130 was prime Arguello. Not many in history get by him there. I think he either stops Sanchez late or takes the decision.

    Arguello for mine.

Probably by late stoppage despite Sanchez having a great chin.

    Cheers All.

I like Alexis in this one. What an amazing fight this would be. AA is one of the most technically sound guys ever and when his skill didn't work, he could straight up fight like a junkyard dog. SS is an equally beautiful fighter as well but I believe he is outgunned at 130 by AA.

I know, I was sitting in the audience, watching that fight on Jan 20 1980, drinking a beer with my dad. Castillo was stopped, TKO 11. It was a good fight as long as it lasted.

Very true, he stopped Alfredo Escalera for the 130 lb belt in 1978.

Based on the fact that we never got to see Sal's prime, this would lean Arguello's way.

Nah. We saw Sanchez's prime. He had maybe another couple years left in him.

Ruben Castillo did better against Arguello before the KO. Sanchez beat him fairly easy.
