Wilder would have a decent chance against Peter if he could box off the backfoot. Wilder isn't very good at that though.

Much more gifted than Stiverne, way better at fighting off the frontfoot, quick and stiff jab, unexpectedly good headmovement, and he earned the title much harder way than Wilder or Stiverne did. Again, there's nothing wrong with picking him over any active HW other than Wlad in a fantasy match up.

Telling you, Wilder is going to be a difficult matchup for any fighter that height who doesn't have Mike Tyson like speed to get inside. You are just not giving him enough credit. Peter was tough by 2000's standards, but I think Joshua, Wilder, Fury, and Jennings are the future of the division.

Wilder and Fury are toast. Wlad will retire them both before he goes out lol

Doubtful. Wlad looked very beatable against Jennings. He might get a win over one of them, but I doubt he retires them.

If Wilder can get past Povetkin in anything resembling impressive fashion he is definitely a match for Klitschko. That will be an undeniable test for either his chin or his ability to avoid a punch.

Samuel Peter = Dereck Chisora and Bermane Stiverne. Shorter fighter with good power but probably little real ability to beat a taller superior fighter.

Maybe, but we don't know whether Wider is good at using his size advantage or not, he beat Stiverne mainly by his speed and jab. Stiverne is a good counter puncher, he hits like a mule, he's tough as nails but he was never a good pressure fighter. I need to see Wilder against legit challenges like Povekin, Takam, Pulev, Jennings more to be able to favour him over someone like prime Sam Peter.

Wilder would light Peters up. Poor stamina and plodding feet. Slow telegraphed hooks. Peter wasn't a good boxer

C'mon man. Prime Peter was way stronger than Chisora and way more skilled than Stiverne.

Fair enough. Said it many times, if Povetkin does to Wilder what you guys think, I will gladly eat crow and chalk him up to another American hype job. But I don't see it.

I honestly think beating Wilder will either take someone of similar height, skill, and power, or a short freak like Mike Tyson which doesn't exist right now. Joshua and Fury might do it, Klitschko might as well but I'd have given him a better chance to do it five years ago then now, he showed his age against Jennings though I am by no means writing him off.

Maybe, but it wouldn't matter. He'd just take to much leather trying to get inside.

If I was Waldo I wouldn't toy around with Wilder. I would go out there and destroy him in a single round Ala Tyson-Spinks.. Waldo chin a liability with Wilder, and while he probably would outbox him easily, with a chin that poor , might as well take him out right away

Peter got utterly embarrassed by Vitali and destroyed in brutal fashion by Helenius.

Chisora beat Helenius from pillar to post and got robbed . And gave Vitali his hardest fight since Lewis.

Peter was a lesser fighter than Chisora and thats been proven by their common opponents.
Peter awful. He wouldn't have been a factor in any other era , but in the worst HW era in history , he was WBC Champ.

David Tua was many levels above Peter and he never came close to winning a title because he campaigned in a very good era of HWs

I agree. The current Peter who is training with Toney and Nichols at Tuscaloosa bbq buffets would probably lose ko 7 but prime '05 Petee sparks him before 5

Maybe, we'll see. I do think Povetkin vs Wilder is a close match up and I'm not ruling out any possible outcome. Could be one of the most exciting HW match ups since Lennox vs Vitali.
