Marquez was his the interim champ for wbo and was meant to fight Scott, and didn't. Not talking when he offered pennies for Scott to go to US. Remember at time Scott was Champ and a bigger name than Marquez at that time. Marquez only became a bigger name later 2005-2006. Barrerra never fancied it, great fighter, made for Scott, always sensed Scott would have went to a new level and beat him (was fight he seemed to want more than any other). Remember Pacman saying the Mexicans were dodging him and Scott as they were best, and keeping it amongst themselves. Remember Pacman had to wait ages to get a fight v one of them (he had American promoters so got shot eventually and the rest is history).

Do you agree the FW division then was strongest division of the last 25 years? thinking Barrera, Moralas, Marquez, Scott, Pacman, Mendina, Polo, McCullough, Naz (back end)

I cant beleive your saying a hero of the sport(Bareera) never fancied fighting scott.
Your making out these fighters were avoiding scott, well i can honestly say those names were ever mentioned in the gym at anytime.
Pacman was a flyweight or bantam at the time
Polo was decent but lost against chacon
McCulloch simple wasnt big enough for a featherweight as good as he was
Medina was an old man by the time scott got him, very skillful and knew a lot of tricks like rubbing the inside of his gloves in your face when inside.
Barrara,Moralas and Marquez were the elite in the division but im not sure they were all featherweights the same time as Scott sure they were not.

They were, look at wbo featherweight rankings when Scott won title, Barrerra, Marquez were chasing that title. Scott went to America and challenged Barrerra/Moralas after there fight in Las Vegas (heard in Glasgow FW was offering big bets with businessmen that Scott would beat Barrerra if they meet). Pacman was also fw, below is ring magazine fw rankings in 2003

The injury was caused by a punch, is that not what fighters are supposed to do?

Scott was offered the Marquez fight but Marquez was getting paid more money for it and Scott disagreed with the figures on offer, because he was the champion and a bigger name at that time. Marquez was **** to watch then and seems to have peaked at 39. The pacman also made noises about fighting him but nothing came of it.

Anyway, I hear Eddie Hearn has been on the phone to Scott asking who's going to promote him when he gets his licence back, which is going to happen soon. Maybe the fight could happen after all.

Exactly people forgot the people Scott was in front of back then, people of a different level to Ricky. I remember the WBO FW belt was one they were all chasing but never fancied getting on with Scott. Your right about Marquez, it was likes of him and Guzman pulling out of fights with Scott that I believe contributed to him going off rails. Hope Hearn has been on phone and Scott can get license and away from FW

Mate scott only fought two of the top ten,Abelyan should never ever been mandatory simple, what did he do before and after fighting Scott nothing and Medina beat Scott then lost to him and do remember he was past his sell by date as good as he was.
Yes its a strong looking top ten but you need to admit hes fought the weakest two in it,albeit medina purely because of his age,oh i never seen Brodie should he have been top 10 when he lost heavily to chi?
