There's a common pattern with all these nostalgia heroes from Murica particularly, and that is half their record is filled with no-hopers or 'cans'. Turns out when you don't just watch the highlight reel, they had terrible opposition in a 'sport' that was even more corrupt than it is now.

Liston is an early prototype of media hype pushed around the globe from Murica. Films and books and even songs written about this character.

Usyk utterly smashes Liston into oblivion. It isn't competitive at all. It's a joke fight where he wonders why he's even doing it. It would be one of the most lopsided fights you've ever seen. The difference between the competition Usyk has faced and this old prizefighter from an era of clumsy brawls and no defence, an era of tiny HW's that Groves would rehydrate bigger than and spark out too, it's night and day. My god how laughable all these matchups would be with Usyk. If only we had that time machine and could end all the delusions.

Usyk is no Ali man, sorry. A great fighter for sure, but the Ali that beat Liston is a different animal altogether. Liston for me here, if they fight three times Usyk wins one and all of thr contests are close.

Liston isn't knocking Usyk out and he isn't beating him on points. Liston was the big bad boogeyman back then beating up on SMW, LHW and CW sized HWs. Usyk isn't a SMW or LHW and he is beating actual SHW size HWs when in his mid-late 30s.

Well over half of Liston's opponents weighed 200lbs or less

    Of his 54 opponents

10 of them weighed 190 or less

20 of them 195 of less

30 of them weighed 200lbs or less

42 of them weighed 210lbs or less

    51 weighed 215lbs or less

    Only 2 weighed over 220lbs

    0 over 230

The 2 guys he fought who weighed over 220 are Chuck Wepner (228) and Gerhard Zech (226)

Usyk would be the 3rd biggest man Liston ever fought in terms of weight

Usyk would outbox Liston with his speed and footwork and whenever Liston did catch up to him and landed with a big shot Usyk is more than tough enough to take it

But it's completely pointless debating these kind of things because no one can ever be proven right or wrong

Usyk. Liston couldn't cut off the ring.
