Most of Listons best wins are men under 200lbs. He is overrated. Not a fan of Klitschko either, bored me to tears.

I'll take Wlad any day of the week. The only thing keeping Liston in this is his imaginary 84 inch reach. In reality Liston is a good technical fighter but waaaay outsized and outskilled by Wlad. His feet are not exactly riverdance material which means he's going to have to be the aggressor and chase Wlad aka plod into the 1-2-hug all night. If he couldn't take Ali's punches, then Wlad's will feel like the meteorite that killed the dinosaurs to Sonny.

Funny that, is Liston a fighter you like then? LMAO.. Because you dump on i.e Marciano (who was a stumpy 185lbs) at any given opportunity calling his opposition LHWs.. but look at you here, jumping to the defense of Liston who had a significant size advantages over much of his opposition. Patterson 24lbs, Folley 14lbs, Machen 15lbs, Marshall 24lbs, Harris 17lbs.. wheres your critique here? If that was Rocky you'd be losing your ****..
He was also flattened by Leotis Martin despite a 20lb weight advantage LOL..

Williams & Valdez were the same size as him. But if you look at his overall career he was never really put at a distinct size disadvantage against a decent opponent, it was more a the case that he was the bigger man.

You can probably say the same about Klitschko.. outweighing his opposition.. but i think he's overrated too. So that means nothing to me.. Can you say the same about Marciano, Holyfield, Usyk, Dempsey , Tyson, Louis, Tunney , Schmeling etc.. my personal favourite HWs.. I have no doubt they fought some smaller men but are MOST of their best wins SIGNIFICANTLY smaller like Listons? Did they spend a career never really being put at a size disadvantage? I doubt it..

Holmes, Lewis etc are great HWs too yes, & they were generally the bigger men but overall you CAN'T say it about a LOT of great HWs.

    Liston is overrated :)

Apart from Ali ,which 200lbs+ heavies did Sonny have problems with?
Yes Liston is a fighter I like ,he is in my all time top ten.
53 fights 26 of them against men 200lbs and over.
Marciano 49 fights,10 against men 200lbs and over, with 200 hundred losses between them.

Want to speculate how Marciano would have done against the 199lbs, 7th ranked Martin at the same age as Sonny was ?

This might surprise you, but what means anything to you isn't high on my list of priorities!

No, I know what he was making ,a cheap snipe about Marciano which has no relevance to this thread.
I like a tag team myself, but I do prefer making, and defending my own points.

It would be nice to get an answer to my question below.

    To be perfectly honest,I couldn't give a good ****.

If anyone is interested in my opinion of who wins between the two I pick Liston by ko,if they aren't interested, no worries. BYE.

I'm going to get a glass of water, so don't be alarmed if you don't see me for a while.
I just looked out the front window,do you drive a red Audi?

What sort of question even is that LOL.. wonder if he wants to speculate why his mythical monster Sonny Liston couldn't beat even bang average smaller HWs like Leotis Martin (even at 39) when men like Moore & Walcott were still world class at a similar age? Without the size advantage too..

Speculating on how Marciano would have done has no relevance to Liston being the larger fighter in most of his fights. He simply didn't like the breakdown i gave of Listons career & had no decent get out answer for it so diverted the topic.

Way to try & skew the numbers LMAO

26 opponents 200lbs & over? What does that prove? Liston himself was well over 200lbs.. so it doesn't mean they were all bigger than him does it? My argument stands.. most of Listons best opposition he significantly outweighed. I'd hazard a guess too that he outweighed the majority of his entire resume. In many cases by some margin.. probably had a bigger reach than most too. None of that can be said for Marciano.

You made this about Marciano nobody else!
It's the sort of question that you in particular will not answer. No I didn't like your breakdown of Liston's career because it was ludicrously biased. I have plenty of answers for you but you have a narrow, closed mind ,so I'd rather not waste my time, posting them to a fan boy who gets butt hurt whenever some facts he doesn't like are presented to him.
For example Martin was one pound below 200lbs the 7th ranked heavyweight in the world, and we have no idea how Old Liston was ,because he didn't know himself, but it suits your agenda to pick a number to fatuously try and derogate him.I've no interest in trying to engage with newbie fan boys who think they know it all.
They come and go here, and you are just one of many.

In one of the first posts you made to me,if not the first ,you called me a liar, and later a casual.
Why would I want to know your opinion?
An opinion that has zero value to me? You're just an ignorant nobody, what can I learn from the likes of you ? I'd get more sensible and unbiased answers out of my dog!

You could try reading the post instead of clinging to someone else’s opinion like it’s gospel.

Mcvey's comment was clearly in response to the claim that "Liston couldn't beat even bang average smaller HWs like Leotis Martin"

Hmmm....It's not as simple as that.Liston absorbed the punches of guys like Cleveland Williams
and Nino Valdes. Both men were considerably heavier punchers than Ali.
Also there is precious little evidence to suggest Wlad could take Liston's punches.
In fact all the evidence confirms that Sonny had a far more reliable chin than Wlad.

So Mcvey rates Liston highly ? So does practically every renowned boxing historian/commentator !
Just take your time and think about that.

Just take your time & think about that fact that i don't care about upsetting you or your girlfriend. For all his mythicsl status his resume isn't very good & he generally outsized his opposition by some margin. Cope harder.
