I take Sonny against all except Lennox Lewis, with the possibility of Corrie Sanders scoring an upset. I pick Sanders as a possibility because he's big, has lots of power, he's a very fast starter, and a southpaw.
The resume is Vitali Klitschko's. I'd take Liston over all of them; including the 37 year old Lewis that showed up against Vitaly. I'm fairly certain that both Holyfield and Mercer would have begged for that version in front of them. The largest issue here is the timeline; there was a 4 year hiatus between Danny Williams and Sam Peter. The possibility of an upset would be largely be as a result of the timeline not as a result of the individual opponent. I reckon any potential loss could very well come from a place least expected. For the time being I'd make Liston the favorite in completing this timeline more successfully than Vitaly but I keep in mind that the 4 year hiatus can produce unexpected results.
This is not assuming Liston defends the title in back to back defenses against all of them. Just that they each get to fight a prime version of Liston
Arreola was incredibly open and aggressive and I dont think he would last long. I never rated Kirk Johnson and Vitali his only top prime opponent knocked him out in 2. Other fighters of a similar standard would have done the same but he avoided the big punchers.
