    In 1985 Tommy Hearns was fighting Ray Leonard for the first time, and Bob Arum, who promoted both fighters, invited many former fighters to Vegas as part of the promotion. One of the things Bob did was to pay for Jake LaMotta’s sixth wedding at the Maxim Hotel and Casino. LaMotta’s best man was none other than the man he fought six times Sugar Ray Robinson.

    According to LaMotta in his memoirs, at one point during the weekend he and Robinson were sitting together looking at Tommy Hearns, and Ray turned to Jake and said, “Jake, did I ever fight this guy?”
