That was just a view based on your own perspective. In reality there isn't such thing as an "ATG" and every individual recognizes some boxers more than some other boxers. Ottke was a German boxer, therefore it's logical that he has the legacy there. There will be probably a similar case for Ward and the US once he finishes his career, but that's about it. He surely won't be recognized as some all-time great boxer among the German public just as Sven Ottke isn't recognized in the US.

 

But there are fighters that everyone recognize as ATG fighters, like SRR, ALi, SRL, Lennox etc...huge difference from joke Ottke...
And with all do respect German fans dont know boxing as US fans just because always the biggest fights and fighters fought on their soil, Ottke woud go to US and rule the world if he thought he could, and for sure would not arrange travesty fight like one vs Reid.

Shaky decisions - Just watch the Boone fight.
Bad scores - Froch fought Ward to a close fight. Tell me who you think won rounds 5, 9, 11, 12 before going on about other rounds in their fight. Watch them.
How did Ward clean out the division? He beat faded Kessler and the rest happened around him in that Kessler beat Froch who beat Bute. When did Ward ever fight an undefeated world champ? Explain how and what you think he did that cleaned out a division.

You are right when you say Ottke didnt do that, but he still did at this time more than Ward when you look at overall resumes

sven lost his ttile at least twice in his fake reign, so no its a shoddy resume based on fakery. but you'd be used to admiring that kind of thing.

 

Of course there are boxers recognized by everyone, but neither Ward nor Ottke are in that category. Also, the thing you mentioned often has more to do with being known throughout the world rather than the actual skill and quality of the boxer (which I don't about the mentioned boxers).

Well, you generalizing stuff shows your lack of knowledge. You also say that the reason US fans know more about the sport is because there are more "big" fights in the US. That's a quite stupid thing to say and that would mean that if some country doesn't host big boxing events, the boxing fans in that country don't know anything about the sport, which is ridiculous.

If you want to generalize, you should know that Americans generally care more about the entertainment and the value of their money rather than about the sport itself. The boxing knowledge of the fans doesn't depend on the number of big fights staged in their country and therefore your conclusion is very stupid.

Who do you think Sven lost his title to? I think I know your answer but will be interested to see, also have you watched the fights in question? Be honest.
How is the resume shoddy? It is what it is and has many top 10 names on it. Like it or not you cannot ignore that.
