Why? Or are you just putting everyone on? Cotto hasn't even peaked yet, and you think he can beat Whitaker in his prime?

    :D

Maybe, I still stick with my first post.....what many people fail to realize is the fact that Ivan Calderon and Cotto are close buddies and spar with eachother all the time. Cotto adjust well to slick boxers because he has become familiar with the style. Cotto has an excellent body attack with adds to his effectivness when fighting movers "your body stays in place despite how much your head moves" Cotto is short and stout which would aide him as well. I think Swea would have an easier fight against all the other welters when matched up with Cotto. Swea would Toy with PWilliams, Cintron and Margo and would look impressive against PBF tough the fight would be razor thin.

    Stupid question.

Whikater wins every round. Wide decision, because he proves too slippery for Cotto.

    LOL!

I would'nt go that far....but I think plenty of posters here are underestimating Cotto's abilities. "The Hawk" would be Cotto's biggest threat in the early 80's

Pernell embarrased an ATG pressure fighter in JCC, I see little to suggest that Cotto would stand a chance. Cotto's only chance would be to ko Pernell, and even a prime Trinidad couldn't ko a 35 yr old Whitaker.

Again maybe I know things about Cotto that others dont or chose not to be aware of but Cotto does not get blown out....no way no how.

Tito was a decent body puncher but he never had the proper footing to deliver proper body shots in the middle of the ring....Tito's foundation and footwork where all wrong for a fighter like Swea....Luckily enough Tito was quite the accurate puncher and seemed to catch Swea more than expected thus giving Tito the clear win. Cotto is a totally different fighter. Bad comparison.

Whittaker was 35 and coked up.

And a prime Trinidad hit him with everything he had and he didn't knock Pea out.

Tito hits alot harder than Cotto at 147. Therefore a prime Pea would not get KO'd. That is the logic I think.

But Chavez was an excellent body puncher. Cotto can box, but Whitaker is not like these guys he has fought. Calderon is not nearly the defensive fighter Whitaker was, and Whitaker threw alot of punches. He also comes from odd angles and was a southpaw. I think Whitaker takes a clear decision.

ppl make it like cotto is a slow robot. i cannot recall sweet pea ever fighting anyone with cotto's skills. i'd favor cotto by ud or late round stoppage. sweet pea definitely one of the slickest fighters ever...but he didn't have the kind of pop that would get cotto's respect. cotto has enough speed and power to break him down over the distance. i often wondered why sweet pea never faced camacho or rosario in their primes.....cotto/whitaker would show u why.

He beat "drew with" Julio Cesar Chavez, who was a better fighter than Cotto in a similar mould.
