i think this would be a incredable matchup, two incredably talented heavyweights i cant speak for moorer because i have not seen much of him but witherspoon imo belongs in the top 50 heavyweights of all time as far as pure boxing abililty.

tim witherspoon is in my top 30, the 3rd best heavyweight of the 80's. Im certain the 80s was a better decade then the 10's,20's,30's,40's and 50s.

No idea how to call it, honestly.

Moorer was a weird one... Southpaw who moved to his left, for starters.

What has your answer to do with the thread- question?

Btw, IMO Moorer would win via UD.

I think this would be a relatively easy fight for the 'Spoon. Durable (he took Frank Bruno's best shots), talented and decent power of his own I would expect him to stop Moorer in the mid to late rounds.

could be a close one, Spoon had that overhand right but never really was a guy who trained and at times needed a Bra, Moorer was shakey but a southpaw with skills and power, Moorer by SD

I believe a Witherspoon in good shape at his best (what a rarity) would stop Moorer. Tim has the better chin and is quite powerful. He can also land a sizable shot out of no-where at times and isn't afraid to load up on the odd calculated pot shot.

I agree with the previous two posters. I think Witherspoon's huge right hand is the equalizer in this matchup. Moorer's chin was less durable than Spoon's was also.

    Witherspoon by late knockout.

Comparing the two of them in their primes, and assuming Witherspoon is in peak condition, Witherspoon would beat Moorer. Tim would stand an excellent chance of winning by kayo, too.

Witherspoon had a much tougher chin than Moorer did, and he could hit like hell. I don't think Moorer could have withstood Tim's right hand.

This bout would have been a very competitive match no doubt.

You better keep Moorer down, because if you don't he usually snaps to attention when a fire gets lit under his ass.

Came off the deck to beat Holyfield, came off the deck (Twice, I think) against a motivated Bert Cooper, and he got up from a nasty headbutt knockdown to KO Jirov.

I can't see Witherspoon losing this one. Moorer came up from the middleweights or super middleweights. The 'Spoon' was a true heavyweight.

Moorer might make it a bit competitive as he was a fine fighter. But really, nothing more than that.
