Prime Tommy Hearns in today's era. How many Divisions can he clean out?

Floyd is one of the best inside fighters in boxing. Martinez can take a punch and can counterpunch. I don't think anyone in any era would make easy work out of Martinez.

 

Indeed.It was only the fact that Ray had a deeper well than any modern day boxer that got him out of that hole.
And that fight is a perfect example of how Tommy's jab could neutralise even the very best at 147.
It's only at 160 where things start to even themselves out a bit,but he'd still be the Ring champ at that weight if he was fighting there now.

 

Any reasonable puncher could get lucky and sparkle Tommy,but against Pacquaio,it would be like watching Wlad K fighting a 5'9 light heavy.Manny would never get by that jab.

 

I think people look at Tommy as he was around the Kinchen and Barkley fights, and decide that he's fragile and it only takes one shot.

Go look at how many clean shots Tommy takes from Leonard and Hagler before being stopped. I don't think Tommy was the same after Hagler, but at WW his chin was fine. At MW he took a lot of clean shots from a heavy handed MW in Hagler before going down, so it takes more than one good shot, and Pacquiao and Mayweather certainly don't have the kind of power that Hagler or Leonard had

Tommy didn't have a shaky chin in his prime either, that's a myth. He took some bombs off Leonard & Hagler before falling.

he'd have problems with the ATGS in each division from WW to SWM- Pac, Gay, Jones, Hopkins, other than that would be winning scalps.

 

I'd love to see prime Hearns vs prime Floyd. Boxing hierarchy needs definition and Floyd needs a good ass whipping to set the record straight. How the f--k does he keep Hearns off him?

Good question,and you have to allow for the fact that Ray went downwards after the first fight,so that and the extra weight could suit Tommy.
Add to that Ray was clearly outboxed for nine rounds first time,and it was only sheer resolve and balls of steel that got him through.:think
Very rare that I'll say this,and I'm not 100%,but I think Tommy could nick this.

Definetly cleans house from 147lbs all the way to 175lbs.

The guys who can really crack from 160-175lbs today would get layed the **** out before they get to Tommy's chin.

 

I think Tommy wins a decision as well. Ray would come on strong, but I don't think Tommy would run out of gas again, and I think this time he holds on to see the final bell.

Another one for you, let's say Ray moved up to MW in 1982 and challenged Hagler, who wins?

 

You have obviously never watched Leonard/Hearns. Try and watch a bit of boxing outside of Floyd.
