Tommy beat George because he ran like a mug. Any heavyweight who still had legs would have caught up to him and pounded him out. Tommy was literally running around the ring, back turned and gasping for life. Had Moorer followed the same plan and not tried to take George out he would have won by a country mile. As it was, Tommy barely won. I just rewatched that fight a few weeks ago and was surprised how close it truly was.

I'll take Moorer's win over Vander (whatever his health excuse was) over Tommy squeaking by Foreman in unilaterally declared track meet.

I'll take a still relevant Cooper, Stewart and Botha over a retired Razor Ruddock.

I can't even begin to express whats wrong this this post:patsch

He's only a mug because he didn't stand right in front of Foreman like Moorer done and get sparked out for your viewing pleasure.

How is using lateral movement, speed and angles a mugs strategy ??

Foreman was a master at walking you down and getting you where he wanted with that thudding tree trunk of a jab.
Morrison set his feet and walloped him his hooks that would have knocked out a horse which said - you ain't walking me down
Tommy had worked hard in training to beat Foreman. He said movement was the key to success and he did what only a small number of greats had done before him.

Moorer had more limited movement than Big George. The uppercut -hook combination would destroy him. This guy went down off the breeze of Holyfields punches.

Go watch Foreman and Morrison again. It's embarrassing watching Tommy run from an old man. It's not lateral movement at all. It's running to the other side of the ring.

Sticking and moving and boxing off the back foot isn't running to the other side of the ring.

Foreman couldn't take the Morrison left hook which gave Duke the space to out box him.

He was only 32 years old .. he'd go on to be undefeated in eleven fights after ..

Just a dumb post .. he used skill and brains to out punch Foreman without engaging him or he would have ended up like Michael did but he didn't ..
