Grown Heavyweights couldn't KO Toney but someone who slaps is going to stop him atsch I see it going but like the Nunn fight but the KO coming a few rounds earlier. Don't believe these guys Calzaghe does NOT have a GREAT jab. His biggest assest is his combination punching and his jabs are fairly weak and sloppy.
:-( atsch The chances of a Calzaghe knockout would be none and none. This is a close fight, it really would depend on how many rounds Toney could fight all out..... But there is no ****ing way in hell he evens sniffs canvas or gets seriously hurt.... NONE.
he may slap now but he did not used to yes at his physical prime he was going through a divorce so did not fight well and now he is in his mental prime he does not have the power anymore. 32 KO is not the record of someone who can not throw a punch. i disagree with you on the clazaghe jab. everyone has they opinion and i think calzaghe would win tko 10-11 or UD. its not going to happen in the first half but that work rate and the constant hitting and power that used to be there would take its toll. a single punch would not do it it would be the result of 1000 punches
I could see Calzaghe out working Toney, but never a TKO. "prime JC could punch"? When was that exactly? At best you mean slap harder.
We can make this really simple. Prime Toney at 168, the version that tore apart Iran Barkley, beats anyone in the history of the SMW division (it hasn't been that long) other than RJJ. RJJ had the style and speed to beat Toney. Calzaghe would be chopped up by Toney's counters and hand speed and lose a decision 117-111.
Calzaghe wins easy UD, To much stamina, to high a workrate, Toney is a Roid junkie, Burger king fatso.. Fat ass lost to midget Montell Griffith 2 times, was raped by Roy Jones and Dave Tiberi, and lost to some guy named Drake Trabezi????
as I have never seen Callzaghe fight a prime elite fighter, I go with Toney by brutal KO ala Nunn. Calzaghe comes straight at Toney, what more could the best counter puncher of the last decade want???? rofl its christmas
There is no way a prime Calzaghe stops a prime James Toney. 1) Toney's defense was too good and 2) Toney's got one of the best chins in boxing history.
Anyone saying Joe wins this easily needs to have the words "nut hugger" tattooed on their ass. PRIME Toney means he is going to be focused, in shape, etc etc. PRIME implies "at his best". At his best Toney beats at his beat Calzaghe easily. I can't believe a couple of people said Calzaghe even beats Toney on the inside! If Hopkins could rock Calzaghe on the inside (while Calzaghe is flurrying), then Toney would KNOCK HIM OUT. At his best Toney has good power, amazing accuracy, amazing counter punching, good stamina, one of the best chins ever, amazing defense... At Joe's best he stilll makes some mistake. If Hopkins at his advanced age could catch Joe with counter and throw leads out of his rhythm to get them to land.... even though Calzaghe is past his prime as well, then a prime Toney could counter the **** out of Calzaghe. And as I said earlier, if Callzaghe fought on the inside he would be knocked down at least and probably be stoped.
