Tough one to call. But I would have to give it to hopkins. Being more crafty. But a very close fight.
Toney would win, and here's why: 1) Toney has better defense 2) Toney would be unphased by Hopkins rough-house tactics 3) Toney was always a harder puncher pound for pound 4) Toney has a granite chin 5) Toney was a faster puncher On each of their respected best days, Toney takes a UD, I'd say 116-112. However, Toney was rarely properly in shape, and Hopkins was certainly the more responsible of the two.
I think Toney is a far more naturally talented fighter than Hopkins. In his prime, I think he has the edge in defense, power, speed, and chin. B hop only hjas his rough house tactics going for him here, and I cant see them winning him a fight against a technician like Toney. Toney UD
Close one - it will be won or lost on points and I give BHop the edge unless a tip top Toney turns up.
