I cant believe how one sided opinions are here tbh. I have Tucker a firm favourite. He is exactly the kind of fighter from the 80's that would imo be to complete for Wilder, Witherspoon and Bonecrusher being two others Fergy. They are simply and clearly better fighters imo

Wilder reminds me of razor ruddock in his athleticism, technical flaws and how much time he spends looking for his pet punch

I want to see Wilder against one more front line opponent first. I'm still not overly confident in exactly what he has and hasn't got. Certainly against a higher level of opposition. The Fury bout should answer a lot of questions.

Wilder would have his hands full with Tucker. I don't see Wilder walking in and blowing away Tucker like hes capable of doing too many contenders passed or present. In fact I don't even know if Wilder would stop Tucker. Tucker was a big, good boxer at the time he took on prime Tyson apparently not 100% I think he was a handful for just about anyone. I think Wilder though would be able to jab with Tucker and land the better shots. I think Wilder would likely get to Tucker at times in the fight with his power and could maybe even stop him later in the bout with a few of his bombs. If they go to decision I still see Wilder coming on top by landing the bigger punches. Wilder my favorite in this fight vs a real good fighter from the 80's and 90's.

Probably go with a Wilder decision. By a few points.

Tucker was hardly an opportunist in there. If he was, he'd win the bout with all those defensive openings Wilder provides. But as soon as Wilder lands a decent shot, Tony is going into his survival mode. He can do that real well and he wouldn't take the lead for the rest of the bout. More like cover up and throw a few ineffective counters and never step on the gas. Wait and wait and then wait some more to throw anything. It'd land and bother Wilder and then Tony would resort to waiting all over again.

So I think Tucker does something like looks good early & establishes his jab and then gets clipped by a right hand and abandons the jab altogether. And w/o the jab, how does he win rounds on the scorecards?

That's the other thing Tucker can't capitalize on--the fatigue factor. Almost all the big hitters run their gas tanks dry, not Wilder. He has pretty good conditioning. It'd help Tucker's chances if this guy faded by the 8th round and lost his snap late in fights.

I think it's a dull fight with lots of posing & very few hard clean punches landed. An "if only he'd" type result and no matter who wins this, the opponent would have had an opportunity or opportunities to have turned the tides and won. And I think Wilder is better than Tucker at the taking advantage game--so he'd likely come out on top, is my guess.

What would be interesting is tallying the judges scorecards------so which guy loses on the cards; the DKP guy or the Haymon guy in a WBC bout?

Tucker outpoints Wilder. Possibly even stops him late. Wilder makes so many mistakes. And Tucker was a very skilled boxer with an excellent chin. If Tucker could handle shots from prime Tyson and Lewis, he is not getting stopped by one of the random bombs Wilder may be lucky enough to land.

Compare Lewis vs Tyson with Tyson vsTucker when Tyson became Undisputed champion. Tucker was same exact size as Lewis and same style but Lewis was better. Do you really think a prime Tyson would have beaten Lewis? Lewis vs Tucker fight https://youtu.be/GAHwO4Soj38
Prime Tyson may have had a better chance vs Wilder than against Lewis or just struggled less.

About 20 secs leading up to 7:29 Lewis threw 11 jabs while Tucker threw one Lewis was using the jab more frequent than Tucker did, Tony kept Tyson off a couple of time by extending his lead and leaving it there as a kind of push/block kind of defense which was very effective at times here.
Tucker didn`t use the jab well vs Tyson and that would hurt him vs Wilder, but he might have used it more because Wilder is much easier to hit with the jab than Tyson was, one thing to keep in mind though, Tucker`s best opponent was Iron Mike wheras Wilder`s best opponent has been Ortiz so far, no comparison there, Tucker`s more proved, we`ll have to see what kind of shape Fury comes in the ring on Dec. 1st to tell what Wilder would have done with some of the better heavies of the past.

This is a tough one, since Tucker in his prime had just as good a gas tank as Wilder and was a great puncher himself. It all comes down to who's chin would hold up and as much as I like Wilder I'm still not a hundred percent sold on his chin while Tucker's was proven. For now I'd have to pick a Prime Tucker.

People keep talking about the "mistakes" wilder makes when he fights, but you cant call them that if it works for him. A weakness is only a weakness if someone suffers as a result of it.

Lets wait a couple more fights to see what wilders really made of and if anyone can exploit his supposedly bad qualities.

No way did Tucker have close to the same power as Wilder.
