Consistency. Tucker only fought one great in the 80s and lost. Douglas was worse than Fury and no better than Ortiz...and Deontay did manage a draw with Fury and near ko before getting his ass kicked in the rematch. Wilder is underrated at the moment because he lost his last fight to one of the best superheavies of all time.

Tucker. He had better chin, skill and stamina. The fat over the hill Tucker lost but he wasn't humiliated by Lewis and proved
decent stamina. Wilder in his prime was totally destroyed by a fighter who never was an outstanding puncher.

Problem is Fergy the Douglas win only looks good with hindsight, at the time Douglas wasn't that highly thought of.

My issue with Tucker is that hes known for his losses rather than quality wins, his first 30 fights or so was padded against nobodies. He got a gift decision vs Orlin Norris, and never beat a top 10 ranked Heavyweight impressively.

I would favour Tucker in this match up, but I think hes overrated as a fighter personally.

    Fair enough comments, mate.
Quite a few have said the same thing many a time.
I've actually thought there s something wrong with me for thinking this way

I mean he looks the part hes 6'5 with decent boxing skills and a good chin, but his actual resume is seriously lacking any standout performances over top 10 ranked Heavyweight.

Tony Tucker's "prime" lasted a few months. Then he cut off his jheri curl, gained a layer of fat, and hung around stinking out the division for a full decade. zzzzz...

Maybe if he come along a few years earlier, then he definitely beats one of the Alphabet boys.
