Tyson was bigger, stronger, faster, hit much harder, had better defense, and had arguably the best uppercut in heavyweight history. Add to that, both guys like to come forward and don't take a step back. i'd put my money on Tyson.
For me Frazier wins this because he gets close quick and Tyson sucked at fighting up close - he needed that initially space to ponder and then pounce. With Frazier he gets no such pass and for it I think his style and mentality is at the mercy of a meltdown job. Not to make it sound too one-sided, but Frazier definitely had the resolve to eat a few big ones as he goes to work.
It's a fight I would love to see. Both fighters coming forward, all action. I don't know who'd win. Tyson was devastating with his hook - uppercut combo, yet Frazier has a granite jaw and the heart of a lion. Brilliant fight.
tyson pushes frazier off him into range similiar to what foreman did and lashes out devastating uppercuts and frazier takes 4 trips to the canvas before the ref stops the fight. Frazier of course was a very slow starter. Tyson TKO 1
No he doesn't, he always had the tendency to tie up or be tied up when close. He would be sucked into the inside where Frazier is better. An early KO for Tyson is certainly a likely scenario considering that Joe was a slow starter. The truth is that it only took a round or two for him to get going and if it gets th that point, it's all Frazier. Frazier TKO11.
how is it all frazier? tyson was not only better in every department, but tyson had a knockout blow in both hands, while frazier had power in only one hand. And had the habit of throwing some devastating 6" punches while inside, take note trevor berbick knockout which left berbick dancing all over the ring scrambling around for his brains. Honestly lets be realistic, tyson was a much better puncher than foreman. even if foreman hit slightly harder(and only slightly), tysons accuracy combinations speed and precision were far better than foremans. when frazier comes in on tyson hes going to be met by a vicious uppercut and frazier doesnt have the chin to take one of those, look what happened when foreman landed on him.
You make it sound as if Frazier and Foreman were some B-class fighters that were nowhere near as good as Mike Tyson. I agree with the people who say that Tyson was not much of an inside fighter. He would rather clinch than fight in close, reset and throw his combinations. Frazier would likely push Tyson backwards. Lets not forget that Buster Mathis Jr had Tyson against the ropes in their fight although it wasn't exactly Tyson in his prime. Old timer Fraizer would magically withstand Tyson's punches. Then KO him with his unending stamina. He would do all this because he's an ATG and being an Old Timer gives him magical powers. Tyson, the ******, is nowhere near his level. Because he raped women and bit ears.
It's true that he could throw short punches with devastating impact, but he very rarely (if ever) showed consistent inside work. For me, this is one of the big enigmas with Tyson as a boxer. To answer the thread, I'd have to favour Tyson here for more or less the same reasons that have already been stated. Frazier winning by late stoppage is definitely not out of the question, though.
