Tyson had excellent stamina. Watch the Ribalta fight. Dude was throwing EVERYTHING at Nino and then some. For 10 rounds! It wasn't until after prison where Tyson lost a lot of steam, technique, toughness and stamina.
I listed a bunch of guys who were very good SS66, not even mentioning Spinks. His competition at his peak was relatively GOOD compared to most HWs, & he fought a lot in a short span. Picking the fight where he screwed up in not training & abusing his body to represent what he would do at his peak is disengenuous. I agree Ali would likely win, though at his peak Tyson would fight on, & had good endurance for a power puncher. But lose by decision or late KO, yes. Forman I always favored stylistically, but given the speed differential & Tyson not a true swarmer, am not so sure. Frazier unfortunately no-though i would root for him. I fear Tyson would overpower him, despite the disparity in work rate & a stamina & definite heart advantage. And speed kills.
Would heavily favour Ali , Frazier and Foreman over any version of Tyson , all mentally superior to Iron Mike . Frazier and Foremans power would make it a dangerous fight for Tyson - the Cus Damato numbers offensive/defensive system used by the robotic Tyson would be picked apart by Dundee and Futch in training . Seriously does anyone on here think that any version of Tyson would not have quit or given up by Round 10 in Manilla .
How do we know Ali wouldn't have fallen to Tyson's barrage? Tyson had a bigger offensive arsenal than Frazier (faster hands and two-fisted power), and given Joe's success in landing on Ali in Manila, Tyson would've landed maybe twice as many shots.
Ummm....huh? Who's comparing Ribalta to anyone? You're saying Tyson has no stamina, I'm proving otherwise. Tyson also went the distance with Tillis, Green, Smith, Tucker and Ruddock. What does that have to do with fighting in the 70's?
Tyson is Frazier 2.0, probably even better. How do we know Ali doesn't get frustrated when having trouble connecting against Mike? Ali has the best chance of extending Tyson out of the 3. He just doesn't have enough power to keep Tyson at bay.
Any Tyson fight against Ali , Frazier and Foreman would have been won long before Iron Mike jumped into the ring , Tyson the most mentally fragile of all the heavy champs would have been putty in Alis , Fraziers and Foremans hands. First time Tyson eats a Frazier left hook its just a matter of time - Tyson perfect for Smokin Joe - just gotta time Tyson wide open with his Damato set of combinations.
anybody who had a great jab, heavy handed enough to put Tyson in reverse and could tie him up when he was in his preferred distance had a good chance vs Tyson. I think the fighters who made Tyson look good are now being highly overrated at the time they were fighting they were considered crap. Just dig a little further into their records and see how many of their opponents had wins vs opponents who actually won fights versus nontomato can opponents. When they stepped up vs live opponents they usually lost. Smoke and mirrors.
Tyson had one of the best chins in HW history, he would eat Frazier's hooks for breakfast. Lets not forget Tyson had a great jab that he used a lot in the 80s to get inside. Tyson's power is right up their with Foreman, a tier above Ali. I think Ali would take a beating, and eventually prevail on his toughness and jab maybe stopping Mike on his feet in 15. However Mike would punish Ali with the left hook, which had better technique and more power then Frazier with all respect to Smokin Joe. Foreman is the most intriguing to me, imagine Cus and Rooney, original team with Mike. Can Tyson adapt his style for Foreman? The clinches would be real rough on Mike though. This matchup has possibly the greatest combo of offensive arsenal ever.
1. Frazier is too slow of a starter to take him over Tyson. 2. Norton would get overwhelmed and Ko'd pretty early..Norton had no idea how to fight going backwards. He would be forced back immediately by Tyson. 3. Foreman is such a tossup...really a matter of who hits who first. Would lean slightly to Foreman because he's shown ability to fight thru adversity and win 4. Ali by 13th round KO - because of his toughness and bigger more proven gas tank late in fights. I think a lot of people are forgetting about Jimmy Young. Young had the defense which made it hard to land more than one punch at a time...and had a great chin. Young would likely take Tyson the full route frustrating Tyson late in the fight. Woulda been real interesting to see Tyson react in the later rounds of a 15 rounder after failing to hit the mark on many of his punches and being maneuvered around the ring by such a defensive slickster
If Foreman would have fought top competition in his second career he would have been put to sleep by several fighters............Tyson resume post prison is far better than Foremans comeback which consisted mainly of C and D type fighters. Outside Holyfield they both had some common opponents which Foreman struggled with and a washed up Tyson put to sleep in a matter of ONE round. The old mans comeback is great from a historical stand point but it was low grade ground beef sold as Filet Mignon. For the record, even the lousy post prison Tyson would do a Tua on Moorer and would not need a somehow lucky punch after getting battered for ten. Anyway, Tyson would walk right thru Norton,Lyle, Quary and Frazier, some of them would be the quickest KO in history. There is absolute none in their arseanal to keep Tyson off them.............Fraziers heart, sure, Corrales had Heart, Gatti had plenty of heart, hell Quary had heart but heart ain't beating the more talented superior skilled fighter. Fact. Foreman is 50/50, Tyson had better stamina past five so if Foreman does not close the show early he is going down. We all know that Tyson can take a hell of a punch in singles and combos for many rounds....even in defeat......can no defense Foreman take Tysons bombs flush and keep on coming.....for how long? There is no question Tyson will land some peach of right hands on him. Remember the Ruddock fight, while clearly on the slide, not training properly and in general ****ing off he sent Ruddock, a big , strong man, possible as strong bodywise as Foreman to the canvas with ONE counter........ I think Ali from the 70's s ripe for the picking, his legs were gone, he fought in spurs and hung around the ropes too long, some real ham and eggers made him work hard for his money. He would have major problems with Tyson handspeed and closing the distance. Out of all of the Ali has the best chance but it is still 50/50 IMO. If Ali would win it would take a dramatic toll on his body at that stage of his career, as a matter of fact it would shorten it. Tyson precision punching head and body would take a big chunk out of him no matter how tough he always was
