Tyson never fought anyone as tough or as big as Vitali in his prime. But then again Vitali never faced a fighter even remotely as fast or explosive as Tyson back in the 80's. Tyson also was never a big heavyweight and knew how to deal with taller opponents.

I think Vitali gets punished in this one for his lazy jab and awkward defence. Tyson isn't Sam Peter and I think he's quick enough and had enough upper body movement to get inside of Vitali's jab.

I'd favour Tyson by TKO in about 10 rounds.

    Why?

Vitali has proven to have a good chin, and he has skills, and is big and strong.

Tyson had gone the distance with Tillis, Smith, Green, and Tucker, effectively white washing them on the cards, but they were all tough and had good chins which allowed them to survive.

I think Tyson by decision is the safest bet.

You are the only person to claim this, and I question your boxing knowledge. Tyson is known as one of the most devastating punchers in boxing history, not as an "accumulation" puncher. He is capable of knocking out fighters with a single punch with either hand, and his resume shows this precisely.

Tyson's power is greater than Sanders and Lewis. Only Lewis' overhand right could be considered a bit more damaging than Tyson's overhand right, but Tyson is the overall harder puncher. You will not find a boxing historian that disagrees.

i personally think this ones too close to call. but if i had to give the edge to anyone, id give it to vitali.

hes so tall, and has an awkward style, i think tyson would have a hard time finding his chin. even if he does, vitalis proven to have an iron jaw. lewis hits harder than tyson, and vitali took his best shots.

mike chances of winning rely on vitalis tendancy to cut, or waiting for him to gas himself out, then laying on the pressure in the mid-late rounds for a decision.

If Corrie Sanders can KD Vitali I have no doubt that a prime Iron Mike KO's him but not too early though.

if you think sanders hits so hard, why couldt he ko rahman? and not only that what about the speed and agression that favors. do you also think sanders is faster. :nut You need to do mroe reserach on tyson. and how many great punchers did vkiltshko face that makes you think he and a mccal chin?

berbick, spinks, marvis frazier, williams, botha, holmes....yeah he never really hurt guys with one shot.

he knocked berbick down 3 times with one hook, nearly decapitated frazier with one uppercut, spinks is still on the mat as we speak.

but to be fair, let's look at the guys sanders has sparked with one punch

    .........................................................................:think

There goes that bull**** about VITLAY having an iron jaw again  He took one flush uppercut from Lewis and held on for dear life for the rest of the round, and did the chicken dance right the way across the ring when Sanders clocked him, to get knocked down a few seconds later.

Prime Tyson would hit him and hit him often. VITLAY would be KO'd or quit.

The shot Tyson knocked Holmes down with for the first time was a real peach of a punch.
