I think a lot of this is contingent upon how good one thinks Tyson was at his peak, and how much he had actually declined by 1990 and beyond. It's impossible to be sure, but as best I can tell Tyson, though somewhat overrated in general, really did have one of the earliest and shortest primes in boxing history and I'm about 70% confident in his knocking out Joshua if he's at his peak.

I'm almost certain Lewis is better than Joshua in almost every sense, and I'm reasonably certain Lewis wouldn't beat peak Tyson.

Galento had a similar style to Tyson and he said he found taller fighters easier to beat. And AJ is a tall fighter so Galento could pull it off.

Galentos opponents racked up about a 50% record of losing the previous fight before they fought Galento. Half his career is basically walking into the ring when his opponent had just lost their previous bout. lol

Lewis better than Joshua in almost EVERY sense?

    Joshua has a better....

1.Guard ,Lewis uses the distance lead arm to put opponets further from him and Joshua puts his high to catch and counter off of ( its harder to penetrate and easier to combo off as well as counter punch)

    2. Defense ( because of guard and speed he had over Lewis)

    3. Left hook ( its more compact)

    4. Speed ( hes capable of throwing blistering punches at times ,in as much as 10 in seconds ( See the Sprott fight)

    5. Power ( overall hes heavier handed then Lewis is ,his upper cut doesn't have Lewis's technique but still has a decapitating effect to it. )

    6. Footwork ( Joshua is far less heavy footed then Lewis was ( at least both when over 235 pounds ) and is able to dodge in and out effortlessly in range and out of range ,its the one thing people opverlook ,I really don't know what they're looking at when they say hes slow footed ??? Hes not there to dance around the ring, hes there to knock someone out. ( lol )

    Lewis is better at....

1.The jab ( hes just years over Joshua and really struggled to develop one it took him YEARs of fighting at pro level )

2.The upper cut ( though Joshuas is stronger)

3 . Right hand ( slight edge to Lewis but its close)

    4. Stamina ( only giving this to Lewis bc Stamina is something gained through rounds experience, Joshua has only had 22 fights ,so using stamina isn't really realistic, had they fought they would be around the same time frame ) Joshua for HIS style and muscle build he NEEDS superior stamina at 240 plus so he will only get better at adapting to them and know his punch counts better.

Ring IQ ( equal) Don't forget Lewis had Steward .

    Inside fighting is also subjective.

Lewis was more a neutralizer in the clinch and very crafty hold and hit type guy, where Joshua takes the opportunity to unload combos from short range and does less holding , if Lewis tried his tactic against Joshua, im guessing it wont go so well for him so that's another thing in Joshua's favor.

Joshua has better fundamentals than Lewis and also throws better combos, I'd say. So far he's also been lees prone to lapses in concentration.

Lewis probably had slightly superior power and was a very smart and experienced operator at his peak.
