Does Cooney make it out of the first round? Or does he stun Tyson with a left hook and last several rounds?

I think if well prepared he might go 4-5 rounds and land some meaningful shots. There are some here who will say that Cooney wouldn’t last any longer than Marvis Frazier did but I don’t believe that to be the case

I don't see why Cooney wouldn't be able to box out the entire match with prime Tyson and lose on points, like Tucker, Smith, and Green did.

Maybe because he didn't have the durability nor style to do so?

Cooney would be brave but will get taken out in under 3 rounds. Cooney fights more comfortably going forward and standing there with a Prime Tyson is a recipe for disaster.

And James Tillis (in addition to those I already listed (Smith, Tucker, Green)) had it?
Cooney reached the 13th round with Holmes in 1982.
I don't see why he wouldn't get to the 10th or 12th round with Tyson.
I can accept some compromise between you and me, but you cannot be 100% right.
    OK?

Tyson via early KO -- within the first three rounds I'd say. Cooney would land a few hooks which would get Tyson's attention but ultimately Gerry would fall.

    Context

Tyson was 19 when he faced Tillis and had the flu.

Green is ten timers tougher then Cooney and lost every single round, again vs a green Tyson.

Tucker had a granite chin and got put in a shell by Tyson, Bonehugger just wanted to survive, it stands to reason that one of them would have been stopped if they opened up.

Holmes is a Boxer not a aggressive lights out Puncher.

Nobody ever bothered Tyson with a left hook.

Cooney aint got the chin or mental toughness to grind it out, he will what he always did come out for blood and start swinging..............yu dont go toe to toe with Prime Tyson, too elusive, too fast, too good of a chin, too powerful.................Cooney will be flat out KO'ed within 3 rounds max, no TKO real KO.

Mike Tyson by TKO 2, Gerry Cooney would be fighting a fighter with bad intentions in both hands, who would walk right thru him landing hard body shots, then changing them up to the head causing Cooney' head to bob up and down like one of those vintage doggies in the real window of a classic car. All Gerry could do to survive is grab and hold in the first round. Come round 2, Gerry resembles one of Mike's punching bags in the gym, then Tyson unleashes a huge uppercut that appears to give Gerry a case of whiplash, a bloodied nose Cooney begins to sink to the canvas as his fall makes a huge thud, shaking the rings foundation. Tyson the winner by TKO 2.

Maybe if Cooney tried to work behind his Jab, he possibly lasts a few rounds.
I don't think he has the defence tho to avoid Tyson s best shots.
I be surprised if it's past 5 rounds tbh.

Again that's simply not how it works. Just because Cooney went 13 with Holmes doesn't mean he goes the distance with Tyson. Berbick went the distance with a peak Holmes, yet was blasted out in two by Tyson.

All of the above men you listed, especially Smith clinched excessively. Cooney never learned (or chose not to for some odd reason) to do so. Also Tillis and Green fought a teenage Tyson. Tyson had vastly improved two years later.

Holmes didn't hit as hard as prime Tyson. If he did, Cooney would have been out of there much sooner.
