This is for those people who believe Frazier is finishing the fight on his fight http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UvQ89GqYz-U
So sick of the Tyson bandwagon. I was a fourteen year old kid when I saw Tyson knockout Trevor Berbick in two rounds for the W.B.C. title. Then it was Smith, Thomas, Tucker and Biggs. Then the Holmes fight, that was a farce, then Tubbs and Spinks, they were classics (I'm being sarcastic). Then Bruno and Williams then he lost to the legendary Buster Douglas (being sarcastic again) Tyson wasn't great, good fighter while Cus D'amato alive then he quickly failed. He was a alcoholic and drug addict. How many times did Tyson get of his butt to win like Frazier did. That's why Frazier would win. Tyson quit in the ring, Frazier never did.
I think Tyson has too many dimensions and a bit too much speed for Frazier early on. He can beat Frazier to the draw but if Berbick gets out of the first round so will Frazier. Come to think of it, Tyson paused a few times even against Berbick where for moments he just stood up close inside with Trevor while he had time to think before the next spurt of explosive combinations. These are widows of oppertunity for Joe. Frank Bruno caught Tyson with a left hook. There is every reason Frazier can too. He threw more left hook than Bruno. Being essentially a one armed fighter is not such a bad thing if like prime Frazier you can double up, lengthen and shorten a power shot off the front foot as regular as most fighters can land a light jab. Prime Tyson did not have the best concentration. He was programmed to an extent, he believed in himself, but would easily become frustrated and this would cloud his thinking. When he had to start thinking for himself Tyson became less instinctive. If or when that happens Frazier can really get a foot hold on Tyson. If it goes past 4 rounds I favour prime Frazier. Tyson to start favourite.
Great matchup for Frazier , Tysons right there in front of him. Will come down to whos got the most will and heart and thats Smokin Joe by a mile. 15 Round points decision to Frazier.
what your really sick of is the fact that nobody agrees with the bollocks you posted in your previous post. and Frazier is this supposed superior fighter with an amazing resume, granite chin and rpgs for fists right? the Frazier legend begins with a win over a guy whod spent 3 years exiles in boxing and ended with the first and only puncher he fought. if your sick of the Tyson bandwagon maybe you should **** off and stop commenting on Tyson threads. stop creating multiple alts as well. Funny how in every Tyson thread there's always a different newbie making the same exact comments?
:good, Frazier beat the greatest heavyweight that ever lived in 1971, that's good enough to convince me that he would have beated a prime over-rated Tyson..
By that same logic Frazier should have beaten Foreman then... I don't buy into the whole " well if this guy beat that guy, then imagine if......" Muhammad Ali had fought all but two times in 4 years when he met Joe Frazier and Joe fought life and death through three fights, losing two of them and against a man who had nothing stylistically in common with Tyson.. For all we know he might very well have beaten Mike Tyson, but not for the reasons being given here...
I would give Joe Frazier a good shot at beating the post prison version of Mike Tyson. He had lost much of his quickness and fluidity. He was just a one or two punch at the time bomber who really had no stamina. Frazier could get to that Tyson and probably stop him on accumulation and his superior stamina. Mike at his peak was a force of nature. His speed and explosiveness was uncommon. I don`t see Tyson getting frustrated because Joe would be there to be hit. Mike got frustrated when a guy held or was elusive.
Excuse me for talking Azzer85. What don't you grow up and read some Classic Boxing books and learn something because you're obviously talking out your a**e. Newbie on here but I've been watching Boxing for 34 years and plenty of Frazier fans agreeing with me so why don't you f**k off you T**t!
To be honest, Tyson looked more "out" vs Douglas than vs Lewis. Lewis punched and pushed fatigued Tyson, and while Mike was down, he wasn't out (same vs Danny Williams 2 years later). He was just too tired to get up vs Lewis or Williams. Vs Douglas Tyson was more hurt than in any other of his fights, and if he somehow managed to get up at 9, he would be knocked out cold in few seconds. And I think Tyson has great chin. Just look how many bombs he took from Lewis, how well he took Ruddock's punches, and of course, that beating from Douglas too.
So he kos Tyson in 8rds ,though it took him 11 to beat Mathis ,and he couldn't drop let alone stop Bonavena in 25rds.:think
Yes, I don't see either one of these 2 slowing the pace. Buster Mathis and the tools, if not the conditioning, reminiscent of Tony Tucker. Oscar Bonavena was a tough customer, in retrospect is underestimated today.
