Let's not compare Godoy to Tyson please. Tyson was fast of hand and foot, had savage power, a good Chin and was a devastating finisher. That doesn't bode well for Louis who was knocked down a lot in his career. I just don't see Louis being able to handle Tyson on the inside. Louis was also flat footed which is suicide in this scenario. This is one example of where styles make fights. I think Tyson and Dempsey would ice him. Not saying it would be easy but I think they would.
This is one of these fights that simply comes down to a few particular attributes that a boxer has, or doesn't have, being all important. The fighters in history that I think would beat a prime Tyson were the ones who could weather and survive the absolute ferocity he brought in the early rounds. Ali, Holyfield, Bowe and peak Holmes are four that I'm almost certain had either the sheer toughness, durability or the style to get through the initial Tyson storm and then make him pay in the later rounds. I'd also give Foreman, Vitali Klitschko, Sonny Liston and Lennox Lewis a decent chance to do it too. I have serious doubts that Joe Louis, great as he was, could withstand what Tyson would bring. I personally have Louis as my number 2 of all time at Heavyweight because of what he accomplished but I just don't think he has the strength or the chin to get through those first five rounds or so. It is basically just one of those cases where a fighter doesn't have the correct set of tools to deal with another fighter in my opinion
Tyson knocks Louis out and early. The first punch tyson hit holyfield with in their first fight separates Louis from his senses
Wrong. Louis could fight in different styles...if you watch enough of Louis you would see this. Joe can attack as he did vs Schmeling in 38, second bout with B Baer..many others. However when facing a serious puncher Joe could box beautifully...side stepping, counter punching with pin point accuracy...hurting his opponent THEN going in for the kill. It would be this Louis who would fight Dempsey or Tyson.
Mike against someone who fought back, that usually ended well didn't it. Typical playground bully mentality. Even Evander, who wasn't a massive puncher at heavyweight had Mike stunned on various ocasions and crawling into his shell after the midway point with mike out of ideas. Louis will pick Mike off coming in Ala Evander.
Plenty of people fought back against Tyson and got their **** pushed in. Arguably Holyfield's greatest win, yeah he stunned Mike with headbutts, and stopped him on his feet. If were using post prison Mike, I guess were using the Louis of the first Schmeling fight. atsch
The more you post, the more i realise your biased against Tyson. Louis couldnt carry Holyfields jockstrap
Holyfield used his strenght to cling to Tyson more than he fought him. He sapped the stamina and will out of an already broken Tyson who had been sitting in a cell for 4 years.....Why would you put forward a past it version of Mike instead of the prime 80's version?
A shot to **** tranqualized Tyson took flush right hands from Lewis, you know one of those that made Rahman go spread Eagle.....without going down....a shot to **** Louis was bounced around by a cruiserweight in his farewell fight......a prime Tyson is very hard to hit clean and if a bomb comes thru he is able to take it and fire back.........I can guarantee that as much as I admire Louis as a fighter his chin is not in the same zipcode as Tysons and that will make the difference...............Mike WILL land his signature straight right and that right is leaps and bounds above Schmellings......... Anyway , Tyson KO, in order to trouble Tyson you need size, lots of clinching and movement combined with a great jab plus a chin. louis got the jab, but shuffles, don't clinch and will fight fire with fire and trade with Mike.........and that will be the end. To be honest, that fight will be over quick.
I take on board what you say.I'm a Tyson fan I'd expect him to win this, but Joe Louis in the art of pure punching had no peers. Iron Mike was hurt by Bruno early on while firing off his own power shots. I'm sure Joe Louis was capable of shaking Tyson up in there in those circumstances, although like you say it would probably come down to the chins.
