If Buster Douglas could put Tyson away, Lewis, a much more dangerous fighter, would have done likewise. Lewis in 8.
And a MOTIVATED Lennox Lewis was not as dangerous as Buster Douglas..? Ether way people talk about this, people are basically stating that Mike Tyson only as a punchers chance. "When all they can bring up is Lennox Lewis's loses to Mccall and Rahman" The fact remains is that Lennox Lewis was never really out boxed in his entire career, if he lost! Even in the fights he lost! He was winning. The save bet is Lennox Lewis! a motivated! on edge Lennox Lewis in my opinion would beat every heavyweight head to head in history. Depending on how threatened he felt! He would ether blast them out, or performance a technical break down. There has been NO! Heavyweight the size of Lennox LEWIS with the athletic ability, power, technical ability all rolled into one! None! No super-heavyweights. His raw strength was off the chart aswell, he throw Holyfeild about! Who himself throw Mike Tyson about in clinches. "But thats just my opinion and mythical match ups are aload of ****"

Bruno dislikes Lewis and looks up to Tyson like some sort of God. Read his book. He's biased. Plus, Bruno picked Audley to beat Haye.
Lewis wasn't in his prime for the McCall fight and took an arrogant approach versus Rahman. Neither of those fights really apply to this particular scenario.
It's very rare i agree with Primadonna Kool, but the guy speak's sense in this thread. People seem to be blinded by Tyson knocking out people early, when in reality he struggled with people who could Box well. Lewis had size advantages and he knew exactly how to use them, his long jab would give Tyson nightmare's. Not to mention if Tyson tried to come under the jab he'd just be tied up and leaned on which would slowly tire Tyson out. I've said for year's the best Lewis would beat any version of Mike Tyson
Tyson was a worthy heavyweight champ, but he does seem to get more overrated as time goes on. To suggest that a prime Tyson beats any heavyweight in history is absurd. As for Tyson's prime, I don't recall anybody claiming was past his best the night he got beat by Douglas. In fact it was one of the biggest shocks in boxing history, and what made it all the more shocking was the fact that it was a systematic beatdown, as opposed to walking onto one big shot. Lewis would have handed Tyson a beatdown, no doubt about it. It would have been competitive up to a point, but once Tyson started to slow down, Lewis would lean on him and bust him up. A bit like what actually happened when they did actually fight. Don't forget, Lewis was a fair way past his best in that fight as well.
Eh, Bruno outboxed Lewis before running into trouble, and Id argue that Mercer outboxed him too. Vitali definitely did early, although Lewis turned that clearly around. Lewis wouldnt have coped with Tysons speed and ferocity at his very best. Lewis was tremendous when on top form, Tyson was just better IMO.
I don't think for one minute that Tyson would look to come out and get Lewis out of there early. In fact I'd say it would be the opposite, Lewis might have a look for part of the first round but would go at Tyson from the first bell, much like he did against Briggs. Tyson would be best served trying to counter Lennox's sometimes pawing jab with the overhand right. One aspect of Lewis's makeup that often gets brushed over is his sometimes flat footed movement around the ring. Nobody really outboxed him for a prolonged spell, mainly because they never really tried. Tyson in his younger days probably had the legs to slip inside Lewis's jab and get to work, whilst also being short enough to partially negate the uppercut which would no doubt be part of Lennox's plan for the fight. My gut instinct tells me that Lewis would catch Tyson with some biggies in the middle rounds, but a home run from Mike isn't beyond the realms of possibility. If I were a bookie I'd probably open up like this..... Lewis 4/5 Tyson 11/10 Lewis KO 6/4 Tyson KO 7/4 Lewis decision 7/2 Tyson decision 6/1 Or something along those lines.
Says the man who most people seem to think of as a twat. Anyway, back to the original question... Lewis' jab dominates from round one until Tyson is stopped somewhere in or around round 8.
Lewis was really, terribly sick going into the Bruno fight. Steve Lillis will tell you just how sick he was. Frank Maloney tried to pull him out but Lewis wouldn't have it. He was barely at 50%.
I haven't got time to reply to this thread. Because of the amount of shocking posts in it. It's got me quite irate
