Tyson can be hurt, and taste the canvas. Tua hasn't. And they are both strong punchers.

Tyson by UD by having a higher workrate.
I laugh at all those thinking Tua would be knocked out.

David Tua....in his best of condition had a better workrate than Mike Tyson.

Styles make fights.....David Tua could beat Mike Tyson.

I am laughing at you right now. Tyson failed to KO some opponents with far inferior chins than Tua.
The Tyson nuthuggery is now reaching epic proportions.

  9. The Tua that fought Ike would KO Tyson, Mike wouldn't be able to intimidate or scare Tua, and Tua had the better chin and was stronger and had the will to take Mikes best:deal
If Buster Douglas blasted Tyson out of there, Tua a much stronger puncher could do it..
    TUA BY KO!!

  10. The Tyson jock sniffers have been living in dreamworld all week long hoping for another ill fated failure comeback:-(..
It's a DAMN SHAME people are still living in the 80's:nut

Tyson would stop Tua late in the fight, Tua's defense was nothing special. I see Tyson getting the best of him in the exchanges and it will end up getting Tua in trouble later in the fight where the ref will eventually stop it in about the 10th or 11th round.

I know it seems to be blasphemy on these forums to say that Tyson was anything but invincible in his prime, but I have Tua winning this.

Tua hit harder, and had a better chin. Sure, Mike's faster, but he was short, and would be right in front of Tua the whole night. Mike would outwork him for a few rounds, but he would eventually get frustrated by his inability to hurt Tua. Eventually, he stops throwing combos, and loads up on everything. Tua catches him in the later rounds and makes him quit around the 10th or 11th.

This bull**** about Tyson being so invincible in his prime is irritating. He was obviously frustrated several times in his glory years when he had trouble blasting someone out. And he would not be blasting out Mr. Tua.

I'm gonna go with the unpopular opinion that Tua makes Tyson quit. Not due to power or chin, but mostly due to heart. Tua would break Mike's fragile will.

Someone wants to flame me for this opinion, I don't care. I always thought Mike was overrated (not bad, just not a top 10 ATG - maybe around 15-20).

But, hey, I could be wrong.

    Better workrate?

No. Tyson was faster with better boxing skill, but this would be a decision in an interesting bout, but a clear win for Tyson.

There's more to will than mindlessly getting up and taking a beating. How one deals with adversity. Tyson would give up on throwing combos, and just swing for the fences, one punch at a time. That wouldn't cut it against a fighter as tough and durable as Tua.

And yes, Tua hits harder. His hands aren't as fast, but they are heavier.

Tyson is great, no doubt, but I think a lot of people are to willing to overlook his flaws, which he had. It wasn't that he was without heart. It was more that he fell apart when things didn't go his way.

Sometimes his power bailed him out. See Bruno I and Botha for examples there. But, against strong, tough dudes with greater willpower, he fell apart.

So, yeah, I shouldn't say that he was a "quitter" (at least, not until the very end), but he was easily frustrated could be made to make tactical mistakes.
