Great points. the tyson was was a bully; on top fighter is a complete myth. He lost to holyfield and douglas by ko becuase of his lack match fitness (holy) and preparation (for douglas)

 

Tyson would clearly deserve to be favourite, I will admit that but spoon would have been twice the challenge that Tubbs and Thomas were.

Thomas and tubbs had not beat rated fighters since before Tyson turned pro. both came into the ring with Tyson trading on their names. Thomas got a shot from beating a Joe bugner victim and tubbs got the call after stopping an obese Light heavyweight fighting for the first time in 3 years -that’s how they got a shot at Tyson!

After his strange loss to smith - who he had beat more emphatically than anyone else had previously- witherspoon racked up 12 wins over winning live fringe guys like mike williams, jose ribalta, truth williams and larry alexander some more impressive than others granted- but Tim was fighting a much better class of opponent than Thomas, Biggs, tubbs and Holmes were fighting when going into challenges with Tyson.

the simms and eklund KO results tim scored around 89-90 proved he was still sharp enough to test tyson beating fighters better than the Muppets tubbs and co were beating.
