He twice KO'd Johnny Saxton (once on a quick 2-round blowout) and also knocked Tony DeMarco unconscious in one of their fights. At his peak, he could bang with the best of 'em at 147.

Either way, I don't think a fighter necessarily needs to be a "KO puncher" to do major damage to Hatton in short order, especially at 147. Mayweather hadn't scored a stoppage in two years prior to fighting Hatton (and has never really stopped or even dropped a genuine WW), yet brutally KO'd him. Pacquiao needed 9-12 rounds of accumulation to stop both DeLaHoya and Cotto, yet annihilated Hatton in just 2 rounds down at Hatton's natural weight of 140. Given that, plus Basilio's natural size, strength, and skill as an infighter, there isn't much to suggest that the fight would be competitive or that much "accumulation" would be needed to stop Hatton.

He knocked down the iron Kid Gavilan with one punch. I get it that he's not a devastating one punch man in the mould of a Hearns. But his ability to absolutely ruin someone with clean shots shouldn't be underrated.

Wait a minute..the fight would never make to 15...Basilio would do a DeMarco on Hatton..a stoppage in the 13th.

If Hatton could take Gavlian out in 5 rounds then I dont see Carmen making the rounds.

No way Basilio can lose this one. I'd be surprised if Hatton makes it even half the way.
