Who wins and why? I personally think pernell would win a lopsided decision at welter.

This is a fake thread. Monzon on points.

    Anyway, Hearns, it's stylistic.

Hearns 117-110 w/ 1 KD, he keeps Whitaker at the end of his long jab before Pea can get inside

Hearns. I can even see him KOing Whitaker. The syle advantage of Hearns too big.

Hearns is possibly the worst match up for Whitaker. I think Tommy would win this 10 out of 10 times.

Hearns would win this one, but knock out Whitaker? Probably not. Although Tito did knock down an over the hill Whitaker, Whitaker who is prime will be defensive but lose a decision. I don't think it would be an easy fight for Hearns, but he would win decisively. Whitaker was great also.

Hearns easily. Pernell is great defensively, but can't hurt Tommy. At the very least, Hearns wins by UD, but I can see this ending by KO as well.

Hearns by 1st or 2nd round kayo over Whitaker, the first solid right Hearns lands on Whitaker ends it.

If Tommy hits him, he is going down.

Hearns. Stylistic nightmare for Whitaker. Hand speed ,power , size and reach , boxing abilities. Its a UD but he could stop him late.

    Damn, talk about overstatement.

...Hearns takes a decision. Probably unanimous, and he has an outside shot of stopping Whitaker, though I wouldn't bet a button on it. Hearns was great. Whitaker was special -and just for a little perspective, he was twice as special as Floyd Mayweather.

This is true. If hearns lands a solid right, it's over.

The question is, can he LAND a solid right on Sweetpea ?

    Very doubtful.

Steward has said Hearns absolutely did not like southpaws, and Whitaker is perhaps the trickiest, most slippery southpaw in history...I don't think it is a fight the Hearns people would go looking for...But on the other hand, I don't think the Duva braintrust would be looking for a Hearns fight either.
For what it is worth...Hearns by decision cemented by two flash knockdowns, in a strange looking fight.
