The two sparred in preparation for one of Hearns bouts possibly Hagler, as Manny Steward was also the cheif trainer for the Olympic team that Whittaker was on, aswell as Hearns's trainer.

Bet there was some great spars in that camp.

Hearns would stop Pea at 147. No doubt. Pea was damn near unbeatable at 135-140, and at 147 in 93-94 he was still excellent, and theres a nummber of very good welters in history he coulda beaten at welter.... but Hearns DAMN SURE aint one of em.

If Roger Mayweather's right hand could hurt and put down Pea, when Tommy lands his it would knock all the cocaine outta Pea's system.

True that Whitaker could have beat a lot of welters, but its few others before we speak of SRR, Leonard and Hearns that actually could put some a whuppin on him Curry,Norris, and Forrest come to mind very quick for me,Cuevas has a punchers chance and he doesent have to worry about getting hit hard,Brelands length would be a problem for him,i also think Benitez and Starling to fighters in the defensive mode like him both bigger and stronger with Wlifred with very quick hands and decent pop.Sweet was great, and near great at 147,but his lack of size and power he would have tons problems with these guys.

I agree with the consensus here. Hearns either knocks whitaker if he engages him, or keeps pernell at the end of a jab the whole fight for a decision win.
