I think Clottey is the better fighter, what do you guys think? Vargas did beat Ike, but I think Joshua is the all round better fighter. Better chin, faster hands, better defense, at 154 who would take it between a prime vargas and joshua?

Well I think this further proves that a Prime Vargas is one of, if not the most underrated fighter of the past decade.

Oh, Vargas was better. And who would win at 154??? That question is humurous.

I don't think Clottey could really hurt Vargas continually. If you cant do that, he'll steam roll you. Vargas would be too big and too strong. He stops clottey in 10, in an entertaining fight.

Sure, going a pretty much even 12 with a prime Wright, beating Quartey and Campas, and giving Trinidad and DLH some of their toughest fights is nowhere near as impressive as blowing it against Baldomir, losing to Margarito, and beating the welterweight Corrales, who had so little damage to his body from his career and tough fights.

"Bu, bu, but.....Clottey was doing well for half the fight against Margarito".

Prime Vargas lost to a Prime Tito and Oscar delahoya. He also beat Winky Wright (controversially though) and a prime Ike. Have you seen Vargas fight in his prime. Watch the fights with Winky, Ike and Tito man. He was a level or two above where Clottey is. :deal

i have seen vargas in his prime was a big fan of his back in the day. I just feel joshua is better and would win if they fought.

The question is, what do you base this on? It isn't accomplishments, competition or big wins. So what is it?

just based on skills. I dont really base a whole lot on big wins or competition. sometimes its the other guy having an off night that lets you get the W.

I don;t think this is even close. Vargas by a mile. Techniqualy vargas was superb. He laid a serious beating on Ike. Considering most boxing experts were picking Ike over DLH, Tito and Pernell after Ike whooped Oba Carr, and many believed that he beat DLH, to give him a bad beating in his next fight was very impressive and should give you a glimps of what this kid could have been had he not pushed to hard and to fast. IMO prime vargas beats all fighters currently fighting at 147 to 154 with the possible exception of Cotto. Also he was way faster then Clottey IMO and carried a lot of power.

You're still losing me here my man. Vargas showed excellent skills against better comp, and is the naturally bigger man. Im not trying to put you down, I just think you are basing your opinion on an assumption rather than any facts or logic.
