Vargas by KO...Fernando was a beast in his prime. Naturally bigger and stronger than PW.

Could someone fill me in on Vargas? Only seen a few fights with him, and wasn´t soundly impressed. What was it that has made him a seemingly well thought of fighter other than the fact that he fought on HBO?

he was a beast in his prime, very physically strong and had a huge heart. big wins over winky wright and ike quartey and very competitive fights with trinidad and oscar

The first time i've ever seen or heard of Vargas was when he was 17-0 with 17 ko. I think he was fighting Wright but i'm not sure. His ring entrance included a tiger. I was like ,"Who is this Mexican guy with these deep eyes, I've never seen him before". I was wondering if he was any good because his record was a perfect one with a 100% ko ratios. I think it was Wright that he was fighting. I was pretty impressive with his performance. I thought he had a great 1-2 combo and pretty good power. That was the first time he ever went the distance with someone. A few fight after that I saw him tangle with Trinidad and he lost. I alway thought that if Trinidad didn't pull that low blow Vargas would have beaten him.

Vargas' prime was about 2 fights. He'd lose this one bad.

i think williams could give vargas a very very very very good fight, but vargas has waaaaaaaaaaay too much will to go along with the skill he had in his prime to lose to williams... a young vargas would have NEVER settled for losing to quintana the way williams did, and i think that fire along with his good body attack and boxing skills would set him up for victory by close decision.
