Prime Vargas vs Prime Margarito

with vargas, margarito wont have the size advantage he usually does over his opponents. i'd take vargas comfortably.

 

Vargas was on another level. Margarito has been overrated. Prime Vargas fought at 154lbs and he was a beast of a man. Vargas by UD in a one sided beat down. Watch the Vargas/Quartey fight and then tell me Margarito can beat that guy.

I agree. So in this battle of overrated fighters I'd take Vargas. Simply more skilled and it's not like margo has one-shot KO power. Vargas would outbox Margo and win by UD.

 

I question if any of these people trashing Vargas actually saw him fight before Tito.

Vargas was/is not overrated, but a Prime Vargas's ability and skills are actually very underrated nowadays.

 

Margarito wins, though its a tough fight, and I dont beleive that Vargas is any faster than Margarito though he does have better timing and shorter shots, I think Vargas has always had a suspect chin he was hurt plenty by Winky, Stunned by Ike Quartey, stunned by Clark, on the deck with Rivera knocked out both by Tito and DLH.

I think the work rate and the style that Margarito brings, makes for a night of hell for Vargas.

Lets not be stupid here though Margarito looks slow he some how manages to throw about 100 shots per round and in he has to move his hands pretty quick to get that many shots off in just 3 mins wouldnt you agree?

 

I take Vargas he was a true 154lbs fighter and was a much much better Boxer than Margarito. Vargas was able to take Quartey's best punches so his chin cant have been that bad. Margarito is not a huge puncher in my opinion anyway.

Vargas was a tough SOB too. Look at the wars Vargas has been in Winky,Quartey,Mosley 1,2,Trinidad.

 

When have you seen Quartey score a knock out in a big fight? you havent so you can use the old Vargas made it to the finish line so there for his chin is solid, not with Ike, especially after that long lay off he had since the DLH fight going into his fight with Vargas, then lets not also forget that the fight with Vargas was Ikes first fight at 154 so with a long lay off at a new weight against the younger, bigger, stronger vargas Ike was still able to make Vargas work for that win especially when he stunned his ass in the 10th.

Vargas's chin was also tested a bit by Winky Wright, a fight in which I thought he lost but also confirms that the chin of Fernando was just not the kind of chin you like to think it was. Vargas was and has always been suspect, and when it came down to it, he was knocked out by two welter weights.

 

Well lets put i like this Margarito does not hit much harder than Quartey in my opinion and Quartey decked DLH so he clearly has some pop. Quartey was a better Boxer than Margarito and arguably a better fighter too.

I thought he lost to Winky too, but he was never hurt by Winky, not in my opinon anyway.

I get the impression you dont like Vargas. Thats cool im not a big fan, but i think Margarito is overrated and i cant see him knocking Vargas out or outboxing him.

 

Margarito KO for me. I always thought Vargas was extremely over-rated.
