    Good post, but at the end of the day he did beat Quartey.

    I just dont see a fighter with Margarito's style giving Vargas the trouble he had against Winky,DLH,Mosley i mean all those guys are counter punchers that are capable of setting traps to land big shots, but Margarito is not that kinda fighter.

    Lets have it right Margarito beat Cotto, because he is much the bigger man and he was able overwhelm him with his strength etc and impose himself. Vargas was prolly overrated, but so is Margarito in my opinion. Only Vargas is not a small guy that Margarito can push around.

    OH MY GOD . This fight would have me drooling . This would have been a Mexican WAR !! . Both fighters would have threw everything they had at one another to prove who's the superior Mexican . Honestly I can see a lot of different outcomes for this fight . I can't predict a winner TOSS UP

    Anythings possible in this Fight , Vargas getting Knocked out , Margarito getting knocked out . Mutiple knockdowns on both sides . Bloody faces , Swollen eyes shut , Broken noses . A TRUE war !!

    A green Vargas took Tito to hell, Margo would only be game. Outgunned. It'd look like Mosley-Vargas only Vargas delivering the beatdown on Margarito.

    @Bazooka . Margarito from the Cotto fight was not Prime Margarito , 2005 , 2006 Margarito is when Margarito was at his peak .

    Any version of Vargas, including post-Tito or even post-DLH - hell, right up through his circus act with Mayorga - pulverizes the versions of Tony that popped Cintron's and Maravilla's cherries. (feats that bookend his prime)

    Come on now , The Vargas that fought Mayorga was slow and sluggish . The Past Prime Margarito that received a severe beatdown from Manny would have tore him a new one and stopped him .

    Hard for me to believe anyone would seriously favor Margarito over any Vargas from the Clarke fight to the Hoya one.


    Vargas would beat Margarito quite comfortably, in a very entertaining scrap. Its not even a tough fight to decide on, imo.


    Margarito vs the Vargas that fought Castillejo, Joval, and Mosley? Then I could see Margarito taking that.

    But if we are talking best version vs best version, Vargas would be too much.
