Khan beat him as an amateur already

Vicious Victor Ortiz was a nasty puncher. I could see him clipping and stopping Khan.

Skinny whippet Khan shoeshined the developed muscly and feared Ortiz into submission as an amateur.

Left hook counter is Khan's kryptonite, Victor ain't got it.

This is what I love about Amir Khan, he gave absolutely no F's and had no fear at all and it shows why it's the most important thing in boxing.

Whilst all the other amateur kids looked at a muscle bound developed teenager in Ortiz all Amir saw was a lovely punching bag to unload shots onto.

But amateurs is amateurs, still see Khan quite easily winning a decision over him.

Amir Khan watched this bout as both men layed absolute hell for leather on each other taking bomb after bomb and you know what he said afterwards when Ortiz quit, "I want Maidana"

HELL YEAH then beat him in FOTY.

Ortiz has the more durable chin, is naturally bigger, and I don’t think Khan would be able to keep him off for 12 rounds.

He beat a better Maidana who hit just as hard, had a higher workrate and was much tougher....and is stylistically harder for Khan than the southpaw Ortiz who is open to Khan's quicker 1,2 all night long.

He'd keep Ortiz off no problem. A guy who likes to stand a box. Meanwhile Maidana can box and bullrush.

More durable chin, maybe but more durable heart? no...

Khan makes up for any deficits to Ortiz's power/chin durability with his heart & balls.

If we want to debate this with real nuance it's a question of whether Welterweight Ortiz (2011 Berto) was his prime which it was...because prime Khan was a light welter 2010/11. So then suddenly the hypothetical becomes somewhat unfair because it's a welter vs light welter. Suddenly Ortiz gets a big boost to his chances.

Maidana under Garcia at 147 would smoke Khan.

When was Ortiz prime? Against Berto?

    When was Khan prime?

Ortiz might quit if he don’t crack Khan China 50/50
With a slight edge to Ortiz finding Khan’s glass.

    Khan 140, End of 2010 early 2011.
    Ortiz 147, 2011

So the weight advantage is fairly big. Much harder to overcome. Khan could have gone to Welter in 2011 though...as long as he doesn't overbulk. Alexander Khan was still pretty good.

A natural welter who is world champ material should always beat Khan...Berto & Ortiz were not really true welters like a Spence or Thurman.

Regardless of weight, in a p4p matchup, I don’t see Khan with enough juice to keep Ortiz off. Mayweather was bigger than Khan and landed 2 flush-ass shots and still couldn’t knock him out.

Khan wouldn't knock him out, he'd school him over 12 rounds though. Glass hand Floyd couldn't knock out a fart.

Victor Ortiz was a mental midget on most night unfortunately.

He was an absolute lion that night against Berto, but that was the only time.

The fact that Khan stopped him hard in the amateurs would probably have won the fight before the first punch was thrown in a pro ring.

Anyways, guys like Ortiz, Maidana, PEDerson never troubled Khan because they couldn't set up punches. they were all grinders. Grinders got eaten up by Amir.

Khan would win the first 5 or 6 rounds, then Vicious Vic would catch him with something huge, put him down, Khan would rise on Bambi legs, and Ortiz would finish off the job. Via sickening looping left on the button, flat on his back, unconscious KO.

Khan wins, Ortiz didn't have a great chin himself and wasn't a power puncher
