Great matchup. Two smart tough fighters. At one time I would have said Vitali but Fury is a different fighter these days. He has so many tools and so many ways to win. He can punch, can take a big punch, can move his feet really well, move his head, control space and has awesome stamina. I’m leaning towards Fury and never thought I’d say that. Great fantasy matchup. A motivated Fury is a tough out against any big HW because of his smarts, speed and mobility. And his gas tank. If he fights his best fight, he’s so hard to beat, no matter who he is facing. I believe Fury is his own toughest opponent. He’s looked disinterested at times but when he’s focused and disciplined, he’s a special fighter.
Fury has not and never will face someone like Vitali. Vitali and Fury are practically the same height (6'7'' vs 6'7.5"). Vitali has the chin, tenacity, awkwardness, fitness, power, unpredictability and ambition to be Fury's hardest ever opponent.
Works both ways though. Vitali hasn’t beaten anyone even close to Fury’s level. What’s his best victory? Sam Peter or the ghost of Corrie Sanders?
I do know that western boxing fans loves to see posts like you had posted here. If guy does not likes you: he had beat nobody. Sanders was not ghost then, sorry, he was reigning WBO World HW champion who had challenged for WBC World HW title Vitali. Not some bum bought as easy fight. More than this, Sanders last fight before this fight was vs then currently reigning WBO World Champion in Wlad and Sanders had dethroned Wlad via stoppage. Easier than it was to do for A.J vs 41 y.o old rusty uncle's version of rich Wlad.
I’m going off memory but I believe Sanders had packed on some pounds and this was definitely his last competitive fight. He didn’t have much left. Regardless, this wasn’t baiting, I give Vitali a decent chance against Fury (I’d favour Fury), it was in response to someone who said Fury hasn't met anyone like Vitali. When clearly the opposite is true, and fury presents perhaps an even rarer proposition to Vitali than vice-versa.
Definitely true. I think Vitali was a great boxer in a bad era, and rate him much higher than his brother. Vitali vs Fury would be great.
This is a tough one, somewhat difficult to visualise too. I think I'd have to go with Fury via SD. His size and awkwardness edge him the win in a close fight.
It would be a great matchup, but I think Fury beats a prime Lewis, And Vitali couldn't even beat an old Lewis.
Vitaly. He's the better boxer and better puncher who has beaten and fought better competition I don't Fury would hold up. Vitaly does tire like Wilder and unlike Wilder he has a grade A chin. Not that Fury is a big puncher. Fury will be exposed once he fights a puncher with skills.
Sanders had in the ring not later boring Wlad version. If I correctly remember, Wlad then was 26 y.o and 6-0 in World title fights with WBO World Title on line. Actually Sanders was first boxer who had dethroned Wlad in pro boxing ring, before this undefeated IN world title fights. Sanders was without any doubt WBO World HW champion cos this and he had won via stoppage vs current WBO World Champ in young and in prime shape Wlad. Mar 2003 and next fight vs Vitali for WBC belt in Apr 2004 th. Sanders was with 0 doubts legit WBO World HW champion. First boxer who had dethroned Wlad.
Vitali was just late replacement for A side lad in Lewis. And please do not claim about face ( Vitali ) and how cool Lewis was there. I do know that boxing fans does associate pro boxing fights with h2h and on da tech streetZ and national pride. Lewis, Usyk and Wlad vs lad like Spong had most likely eneded in ICU unit on da tech streetZ. Such masculinity level is pro boxing for da tech streetZ and your local pub.
Vitalis low guard lean back style would be even more explotied against Furys stepping Jab. Fury would Jab his head off, clinch reapeat.
I hate to say it because I like Vitali, but some guys always lose the big ones, and some guys always win them. I think we can all work out which was which in this equation.
Vitali probably. But in all honesty Fury winning wouldn't be a suprise. Im starting to think Vitali is somewhat overrated. H2H a prime Vitali could very well be no better than peak Emmanuel Steward trained Wlad, which is H2H top 10 but not a H2H nightmare
